I'm not sure it's too difficult. I'm a total newb, started mediumcore with 1.0.6 and got stuck in (with help from Reeve, bless him).

It's much more combat-oriented than minecraft, but I like that. I haven't got all that far but I've crafted a gold pick, full silver armour suit, grappling hook (sorry Reeve I lost yours, died somewhere I couldn't get back to :p)

I've yet to see any dropped items or the advanced crafting stuff, because I'm not sure where to go now.

But it hasn't been overly difficult I wouldn't say. But then I played EQ years ago, and although not as hardcore as UO, it was pretty brutal :p
 
You were probably a bit late to the server to get the proper experience tbh. When did you join again? Can't remember if it was before or after me and Reeve looted the dungeon. And I know some people have a ridiculous stash of ores too so you'd struggle to find it. Generally there isn't a whole lot of danger to the first few areas. The jungle is a huge step up with the Hornets and the Dungeon is nothing like any of the previous areas. Hell mainly has the never ending hazard of lava to contend with as the enemies aren't that powerful if you have a good weapon.

I wouldn't mind seeing a new world soon, only this time we really will make it Mediumcore only with new characters and absolutely no items from off the server. Plus I want to try it using bows/guns only :p
 
And this time I'll be called Evilsod and not Sergei Manlove (the game needs a pink pinstripe suit imo :D).

Could be worth doing if people are interested in doing it again. Depends how many are still working through this world and how many burnt themselves out and would rather wait for the next major content patch.

Sounds good to me. It really is a different experience when you have something to lose (mediumcore). Gets interesting :D

Heh, I went to the Jungle, fell down a big hole in the path that someone hadn't filled in, and fell to the bottom of a pit where two wasps, two big vine things and bunch of other critters did me in :p

That's two sets of equipment lost tonight :p I'm back to copper armour and a wooden sword again :p

I dont think i will start playing this again until the net big patch. I have done everything I wanted to do.
 
Ok whoever is building near me, STOP IT.

Someones build a house near me and i bricked it in as it was where i was gona expand my small home later. NOW someone has dug a wide hole to the side of my house on the left hand side.

Getting sick of asking this so if it doesn't stop ill just stop coming on.
 
Whenever you create a new server, I think you should ask people whether they are happy having one central home near the spawn point, built by everyone, to be used. It worked well in the old servers. Although if anyone wants their own separate house then maybe you should make a rule that either their rooms don't have any doors, or they don't have any furniture that would attract npc's.
 
Yeah we should probably create an NPC home in the middle of the map. Maybe build it up above the surface slightly to prevent goblins spawning in it. I'd rather go build my own house elsewhere though. Shouldn't be too hard to prevent NPCs spawning in it if you remove the door in the event they do.

Add Spikes near the bottom of it! thats what i did to my area :D
 
My new motherboard arrived today, it looks beautiful! I'm waiting to order some memory, which should be next week, I think. I'd like some free music that I can use on my Terraria youtube videos, does anybody here know of somewhere I can look for that kind of thing? Similar music to Terraria's own music, or Mario music etc. Catchy, with no lyrics, that either I won't need permission to use, or that I can get permission for easily. :)
