Terraria - Dig, fight, explore, build

^^ Lol. :D

I'll finish most of the encoding tonight, but the editing of the videos will probably take ages... I'm thinking of just finishing the outline, and then editing the videos, then filling the statue in. Otherwise a new patch might come out, and the colours might have changed by then!

The last pic that I linked to is as far as I've got - I've been doing some college homework and encoding some of the videos tonight. :)

I thought I had encoded one of my files, so I deleted the original, but I hadn't encoded it, it's gone now. :(
Still, 121 video files left to show progress, I doubt 1 missing file will make much difference! :D

After encoding them, I shall edit out all of the afk parts, then speed the videos up to x4 speed (higher if I can), and splice them together so that I have a few 10minute long videos, and then I shall upload them to youtube. :) Atm there's 13 or 14hours worth of video, and I still haven't even finished the outline of the whole thing yet!

The videos are only as proof of the authenticity of the statue - to show that I didn't use a map creator to build it. :)

The UI and gameplay mechanics are simple, though they aren't explained to you very well. I found myself consulting the wiki a lot when I first started playing. Most of it is pretty straight forward, there's not a huge learning curve imo. A good game for the price, if you think you'll like the simplicity and open exploration of the game. Also, building your own home/monuments in the game is pretty good if you're into that kind of sandbox thing. :) If you go ahead and buy it, you can add me on Steam if you want someone to answer any in-game questions that you have. :)

If you spend some time talking with the Guide he can tell you quite a lot. You're better off learning the basics from the wiki though, mainly 'what constitutes a house'. Mining is pretty self-explanatory, as is combat. Just remember that if you give the Guide an ingredient he'll tell you all possible items you can make with it so you don't need to keep tabbing out to check.

So finally decided to venture downwards!

Took me a while to actually reach a cave but from there it was alright.

Managed to find loads of chests and gold/silver/iron/copper so have got loads of bars now!

It's annoying that when you save and exit and then go back you have to start in the same location again though :/

You can set a new spawn point, but it's not easy...

You need to make a room.
You need to complete the room by building a wall (background).
You need to craft a bed -- this is the hard part/time consuming part.
Right click the bed and bingo, new spawn point set.

Indeed. :( Perhaps you could always take some wood and a bed with you, and lay up a little house when you log off. Set that bed as your spawn point, and when you log in, you'll be right where you left off. :) Pro tip: piggy banks, sold by the merchant, are pretty darn handy. If you carry one of them with you, and 2 wood platforms, you can plop it down when your inventory is full, fill it with items, pick it back up, and continue exploring. :) A safe also serves the same purpose, but is harder to acquire.

Edit: Beaten. :(
