Terraria - Dig, fight, explore, build

Anyone want to donate some money towards a server? I can leave one running without hamachi but I don't really want to leave my steam account logged in permanently on the server machine.

Does it need to be a good PC to host a server?

It doesn't seem to be as intensive as MC so probably not. The main thing (to avoid having to use Hamachi) is to not be behind NAT/etc.

You also have to have a steam account logged in to run the server...

Just make sure that's it's not going to be a one night affair, because if you build a lot of houses and close the server. Members will have to start again on another one

Oops, last time I did a 4 pack it was a while ago and asking in games forum was ok. My mistake. Will ask in MM.

So, I dont get the problem with having a steam acc logged in? My steams logged in whenever my PC is on

To not use Hamachi he needs to run it off his work PC, and if it's on his account he then can't use his account at home.

Yeah. I've ran plenty of servers for OcUK before and currently host the Minecraft server (and Brink and UrT and KillingFloor and L4D1+2 along with Link) so I'd say that I'm pretty reliable for this sort of thing.

As Aedus has said - the way software works at the moment even just running a server requires you to be logged in. I'm not willing to have my entire steam account only usable on the server PC whilst it runs Terraria 24/7. If there was proper dedi server support this wouldn't be an issue :/

Wasn't picking you out fella, was just talking in general ;)

FrenchTart try suggesting it on their forums. The game gets updated almost daily so I shouldn't imagine it would be too hard to get proper dedi support.

I believe it's being worked on but I've no idea when dedi server support will be out.

Personally I'm happy to wait - I've just had a couple of people contact me asking me to host a server.
