Terraria - Dig, fight, explore, build

Exact same happened to me the first time I fought the eye. It's so frustrating. All part of the learning experience though.

Purple ore is demonite which you should be able to mine with a gold pickaxe

Unless you mean obsidian (stuff that's made when water cools lava) in which case you need the next one up, or you can use dynamite to blow it up.

Those Devourers are really annoying, especially when you don't have space to fight them or you're over a solid floor so you can't see where they're coming from.

Best part is I then headed back to the Jungle, before I'd even got back to where I was he was summoned again ><

Killed him the second time though. Got my Musket out of storage (for all the good its 40 shots did) and fought him on the roof of my house so I could see what he was doing when he went below me.

Don't get me started on falling to my death >< I HATE the jungle underground. If its not wasp spam, dominated by Big Stingers which take forever to kill, its razer grass. If its not razer grass its Man Eaters spawning ENDLESSLY, EVERYWHERE and surprising me. I jumped down to an area I'd cleared using Cloud in a Bottle... landed right next to a Man Eater and got slaughtered before I could get away.
Then later I missed my double jump and fell 300ft and splatted for 770 damage. So I went back... got to the same spot and this time some Hornets came out of nowhere and knocked me off :p Finally got back down there on the 4th attempt and grabbed all my money. I stick it all in the piggy bank but I still had too much on me.

Out of interest, do people use many potions? Other than healing potions that is. I keep looking at all the potions you can make and just thinking I should really be using them instead of ignoring them.

Oh wow sounds like you have had a fun time :P. Get yourself a pair of rocket boots and a horse shoe and you will be fine.

Potion wise i just use the health and mana combo ones. I havent bothered with otherones. Mind you im top geared now so i have no need really as i can kill everything.

Start off reasonable. E.g. one level and not tooo long. then when you get more materials you can build more floors to it, using platform things from wood. This will allow more NPC's to move in upstairs.

I just started a new map after getting used to it a little more, and I started out right next to a demon forge and a reasonable stash of silver ore :D

No idea what the demon forge is for yet though.

What is the top gear?

Started off with a little wooden house. But have now build one out of stone with a little sand blockade at the entrance incase of emergency :)

Just as I finished it, a nurse joined.

The Eye Of Cthulhu can be beaten with shurikens, with time to spare. Just so you know. :) I've killed him with both Vilethorn and the Enchanted Boomerang before, maybe you just need to get used to them a little bit more. Although Vilethorn does depend on how much mana and mana regen you have, but it's the quickest way to kill him in low/mid level gear imo.



Murray - you missed out on some fun when you logged off. The 3 of us went to the dungeon together, Skippi and Elve were very funny at their attempt. xD

I've never even seen a Goblin Army invasion. Hell I've only just killed the Eye of Cthulhu. Never seen a Floating Island either and I seem to keep finding Magic Mirrors and Cloud in a Bottles from chests ><

Worth buying the Minishark when I get 40 gold? Up to 37 now.

I should probably of used life/mana regen potions really. I did kill it the second time with a little assistance from the Musket, though I doubt it helped that much. Think the main reason I won was because I fought above ground on the roof of my house so I could see it coming from below. I should really of built a wooden platform arena though.

Seems they just make stuff to summon bosses.

I'm a little annoyed now. I've collected enough Jungle Roses and Vines to upgrade my Silver armour to Jungle armour... however I am still ONE Emerald short and finding it is going to be a nightmare!!!

I bought it as soon as I hit 50 gold as I just wanted to see it. It's pretty awesome and as said above, the star cannon is insane once you collect enough fallen stars, but it's actually much more fun to spend that 50 gold on dynamite and go to town. It makes mining so much easier :D
