Terraria - Dig, fight, explore, build

I built a skybridge... then I found out here that it isnt allowed... Ah well someone can destroy it if they want. Interestingly when I got to the right side of the map there were at least two very long sky bridges....
 
btw i did what i did because the map is getting reset soon because of update? and my mate was round and he thought it would be funny. mostly his fault not mine, and what does it matter his server is getting reset for update
 
Since the server will likely be reset with the new patch, I decided to go collect some blocks to begin building on my single player world. Bought a few sticks of dynamite from the NPC, 3645 blocks of stone now, woot!

E: Checked my chests, I already had 3500. Over 7000 now... will likely use some on the new OcUK server once the next patch is out. Time to go get some dirt, mud and sand now. :D

Ok, it seems I was wrong earlier when I thought that musshroom seeds would grow upwards into the dirt biome. While they do grow upwards, they stop growing at the dirt biome:



I'll pick all the mud on the top few layers and reuse it in my artificial jungle for jungle roses lover down in the gray stone level. Those 4 mushroom layers are giving me more than enough mushrooms anyway.

I think the method you're supposed to use is:

Dig down and explore the stone layer a lot until you get sufficient loot to fight your way to a Shadow Orb and blow it open with dynamite. Summon/fight the Eye of Cthulhu and kill it. Grab a load of Purification Powders from the Dryad and break open some more Shadow Orbs. Fight the Eater of Worlds and get enough Scales to create a Nightmare Pickaxe.

Yeah, was a right pain getting hold of a nightmare pickaxe - pretty sorted once you get a molten one though :)

Need a goblin invasion again to get me some rocket boots!

Edit: So I have my fiery sword now. Working towards upgrading it. What is a really good ranged weapon? A space gun seems pretty good.

I spent my first lot of demonite ore on the Light's Bane. It didnt last long because I managed to make a blade of grass after another trip through the jungle dungeon, but it is needed to make a nights edge later on so its worth having.
 
Crafted my Night's Edge earlier today but honestly, kind of missing my Muramasa :/ mainly for the auto attack. Will try to pick up another one me thinks!
