Terraria - Dig, fight, explore, build

I finally managed to get through the whole jungle dungeon without getting killed by stingers or maneaters ...

Only to end up in hell trying desperately to grab a hellforge with a gold hammer ...

That didnt work :(

But now I have a blade of grass, thorn chakram, Ivy Whip, and an Anklet of the Wind :)

I suppose I need to get a better pick and hammer now, and some better armor. I'll try and see if I can kill the old man boss and get into the dungeon next.

I actually might have enough gems stored for some jungle armor! I should take another trip through the jungle for more roses.

Sweet I raided all my chests, and I just had enough rubies and plenty of everything else:

I need another 79 roses though, that might take 2 trips through the jungle.

But the problem is I like my silver armor in my vanity slot, though I should actually have plenty of silver by now to make another set.

I am building a sky bridge to find the floating islands. I have found 2 so far but now I am under constant attack from harpies. What can be done about these gits?

Edit* And how the hell do you get to the jungle? I want some scales so I can use my nightmare bars

How can you be losing with a Blade of Grass :p

The place is a nightmare with a Vilethorn as your main damage doing only 1 damage to Big Stingers ><

I have a nasty jungle map with lots of caverns, I keep falling into mobs of maneaters:

But anyhow:

Woot :p

(I kind of forgot to pick up one extra rose to wear in my hair instead of this ugly helmet).

Build a sky tunnel ;)

Of course, sky bridges completely ruin meteor strikes.

Why build sky bridges when you can use gravitation potions? They dont mess up your meteors :)

I havnt had a meteor crash yet though, and I already have all the jungle loot.

Man Eaters appearing everywhere and razer grass knocking you into things is pretty much the definition of the jungle :p

Anyway, heres NPCs home sweet home.

And my home sweet home (with a guide who will shortly be killed via voodoo doll + lava...)

I'm not gonna bother doing a major redecoration. I'll just start a new world when the patch is out. Could do with planning my storage area a little better anyway.

*reads the wiki on gravitation potions* Oh, they might be pretty damn useful after all. Think I'll grab my 2 speed boosts, get upto max speed with Hermes and go searching for Floating Islands.

I found 3 gravitation potions in a jungle shrine chest along with the +10% speed anklet.

But I read that the anklet doesnt stack with hermes boots, so its pretty useless :(

Oh don't they? Ah well. I zoomed between around 400 and 600ft up from my starting point at the centre of the map, over a corruption zone, over a jungle zone, then over a second corruption zone and finally found an island over the edge of a second jungle zone shortly before the edge of the map. I'll probably go check the other side tomorrow.

I see what you mean about those harpies... I really should've just walled the entrance up with stone, they came that often I couldn't mine even with a Molten Pickaxe. I'm gonna have to try creating more potions and trying to use them.

When you reach full speed with hermes boots, that doesnt stack with anklets.

Plus its better to use either one as there are a lot of other equips you will probably also want to have on (I like to have a flipper and cloud in a bottle equipped all the time, plus Hermes Boots and 2 regeneration rings).

I was using 1 regeneration ring + hermes boots + anklet before, but I tested each one alone, together and both off, and hermes boots alone were just as good as they were with the anklet.

My gear for travelling on the surface is:
Speed boots, rocket boots, balloon, horseshoe, shield.

The only other accessories I use are skull (essential), band of regen (stingy with potions), diving helmet (not essential, for faffing about underwater).

Never even found a Band of Regen (I think). Found tons of mana regen bands from Shadow Orbs (STILL not found an Orb of Light).

Doesn't it just clog up your inventory having that many spare items?

I've been using 3 Shackles (I must have about 10 in storage for no apparent reason... could be handy for some new player). Lately I've been replacing them with various stronger items that I've come across. Replaced 2 with an Obsidian Skull and Rocket Boots, could really do with finding a Cobalt Shield. Also came across a Lucky Horseshoe on the first floating island which was handy.

How do people use the Piggy Bank? Given that its personal storage across all worlds, do you leave 1 in your house and bring another with you? Or leave them in various places so you can swap some of the more important equipment around without wasting inventory space?
