Terraria - Dig, fight, explore, build

A crashed meteorite is a medium-level event location. A meteorite crash site may spawn at midnight with a 50% chance when a Shadow Orb is smashed. Additionally, each night, there is a 2% chance that a meteor will fall.

You will be notified by a chat message: "A meteorite has landed!" when a meteorite strikes the surface. This happens at midnight, or immediately after smashing a Shadow Orb when midnight has passed, but it's still night.


Note that if you have built a single-block bridge (even one composed of wood platforms) in the sky in search of Floating Islands it is possible for a meteorite to land on that bridge and you will end up getting only a small amount of Meteorite. It is suggested to destroy any paths in the sky before smashing a Shadow Orb in order to get a normal amount of Meteorite.
 
50%? No way in hell thats right. It took me 7 orbs to finally have 1 land. Not to mention they'd be landing all the time if you got lucky with a chance like that.

Definitely not, logged in the last day to find I was nowhere near where I had been and I had travelled for the best part of an hour to get there :(
 
I'm sort of stumped now. Equipped with the shadow armor set, ball of pain, star fury (or whatever that star shooting sword is called) and phase blade I went to the dungeon and ganked Skeletron. With the dungeon now clear (and both muramasa and obsidian shield in my bags) I'm not sure what else to do. Yes there is hell to visit, but realistically there are no bosses there - just constantly spawning imps and demons. Suggestions?
 
I got one meteorite for every orb smashed.
They don't drop instantly. I think they're 'cached' and drop over time.
Although I always made sure there wasn't more than 1 'due' before i saved and exited.

thats all about there is to do :D
ive put in over 40 hours though so i might be a bit a slow git, but ive thoroughly enjoyed collecting most of the stuff although im still hunting muramusa! im even thinking of collecting a new full set to equip it all on an 'alt' :o
 
Join me in rejoicing the death of the stupid Guide. As I've yet to experience goblin invasions, I created lava moats on two sides of my house. Lo and behold, the stupid Guide decided to take a lava bath :P Hasn't respawned yet so maybe, he's gone for good...
