Terrible Jaguar re-brand

At launch you could get into an F pace just under 40k to be fair. And this £35k new model 3?! When did that ever happen in the UK?! I think 39995 was lowest?
Correct £40k but £37.5k after the grant at the time.

You could argue it’s cheaper than £35k these days, £35k* in 2017 is now £45k and the car is still £40k which is a significant real terms price cut.

*$35k plus 20% VAT and 10% tariffs is ~£35k.

I’ve not actually commented on the advert because there is nothing to talk about.

I find the general discourse about or more amusing than anything else, of the objective was to get people talking about Jaguar, it worked.

The issue as I see it is there now seems to be a cohort of people wanting the brand to fail which is not great. That said, if the cars decent, they’ll soon change their tune.

I’m not sold on the revised branding, it’s quite a departure from the status quo but it might make sense on the new car. I’m leaving an open mind on that one.

I take it iJustine and that comedian who can’t drive (Jack Whitehall?) are not being rolled out for this one?
I mean all due respect to the commentors in this thread, but some of the most prolific posters are MOT technicians. They aren't buying Jaguars no matter what.

Tbh i find getting petrol tedious now after the car filling up when parked and never needing to think about it.
Yeah agree with that

really ? I didn't realise the FPace was that affordable. that is a lot of car for your cash.
the base nissan QQ starts at 30k and that is for the base model. if you want toys to bring it in line with the Tesla features you are looking at the tekna+ spec.and no one would call a QQ a premium car (not knocking them I like the QQ)

Prices have got kind of silly on new cars, I find it kind of funny a fully specced Qashqai will set you back way over 30K but depreciate massively, whereas the Xtrail which is also silly priced holds it's value much longer and wasn't that long Nissan was trying to crack the premium market with the Ariya at not much more money and they just aren't that premium.

It is no wonder so many car makers are struggling now.

I’m not sure as someone talking about it you need convincing…

Think you missed the point - I'm not convinced it was a deliberate attempt to cause controversy to get people talking then pivot to their actual intentions, IMO this was/is more likely an intentional step in another direction.

How much would Jaguar cost for Musk to buy then ... his model S/X were more of a luxury aspirations (eg adaptive suspension ) so tesla had dabbled in that market,
(the best cars they ever made ?)
and could offer jaguar access to modern giga-casting(chassis sharing) and vertical integration - and they use their own suspension / internal fit ... like porsche

Absolutely comedy to read this crap

yes luxury isn't just adaptive/air suspension but the x/s have luxuries like better cabins than newer models - jaguar don't have the money for those big investments like giga that would further increase profit margin on these new cars,
so can make an argument that long term sustainment would come from such a tesla purchase. (e: not forgetting the tesla battery & drivetrain prowess, too)

Have you ever sat in a jaguar ipace and then sat in a Tesla ????

Giga is not a luxury play. Last I cheeked jaguar were making profit ? Can’t be said for all EU OEMs

Tesla batteries are old tech now

not a fan of the new logo, looks a bit bland/boring and just lacks that Jaguar flavor.

the new car will be interesting, if it's too out there it probably won't sell well so I hope Jag has other things in motion to get more stuff out there that's cheaper/more affordable. Even if it's aimed at younger generation, very few have that kinda of money to dump on cars. If it's a £100K car, what is jags target market?

all in, it's an odd move but I hope it works out and we're all very wrong about it

This seems an unlikely to succeed Hail Mary. Maybe the Chinese will like it?

It looks very US/China orientated design, copying the language of Chinese and US based cars. Butt Fugly in my opinion and certainly not something that communicates well with the average European. Perhaps they're going after the Bentley market - to which Butt Fugly external rebranding is irrelevant but the cash waved in the face from driving is.

Had this pop up in my recommended feed earlier today, slightly on topic: https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money...and-TWR-Supercat-reborn-XJS-21st-Century.html

Not sure if I love or hate it.

Firmly wedged in the Butt Fugly camp.

I know what they're attempting todo - take the concept of vintage ownership (ie the same thing that makes vintage watches cool), reissue a new design to capture that market trend. The original was not a pretty car, it was a badge of money.
