Terrible Jaguar re-brand

lol are you arguing it is aimed at enthusiasts or something? What is your point about the Prius? There couldn't be a more bland/vanilla car (maybe the Honda Jazz).

Driving dynamics, performance models that aren't just stickers and tat

Not sure why you can't grasp the design intent of a Lexus is for old men.

I am talking about your bread and butter models which are what sell in the thousands. What makes a BMW 320D more youthful than say a Lexus IS300H?

I can grasp why this country looks at "Lexus design intent" is for old men. Yet I can also grasp why the vast majority in say America do not. Mainly because we are single minded whereas Americans are more open minded to change.

This is how the vast majority of people also look at Jaguar in the country when the reality was they went in the complete opposite direction of the old man image that has stuck with them.

Jaguar have basically given up on Europe now and this new image and direction is to basically appease to the Chinese market.

lol what? Lexus place in the market isn't a secret, it is something they specifically aim for. It is why they invented the Scion brand for youfff'. Like I said, I'd love a Lexus, but I won't go near one because the CVT box is gash. It is designed for old biddies to pootle along/people uninterested in driving as an experience.

The comments from people on youtube etc are the best bit, as always with this sort of nonsense :D

"are you selling premium yogurt or luxury automobiles?"

They can't be with this ad. The Chinese haven't taken to the whole woke thing going on in the west (not sure the west have either tbh, but that's a different subject).

I'm lost for words. Someone or a group of people (marketing people) thought this was a good idea, and somebody signed it off. There would have been extortionate amount of money paid to creative agencies behind this, or if in house, the employees behind it.

It's no Audi R8, or Lexus LFA advert that's for sure. God I love those adverts, especially the R8 one.

can I try

Oh dear. I genuinely think they may be trying to aim the Jaguar brand at the alternative community...

That will never work.

Couple of swears in here so feel free to remove mods if I breaks the rules.

Listened to this earlier. Good Podcast in general actually, been enjoying it aside from the F1 stuff (as I don't follow it).

I recall from the late 80's/early 90's the company digital decided to rebrand and spent big on the rebrand (I recall a million quid but could be wrong - a lot back then) and all that changed is they swapped a square dot above the two letter I's for a circle (or vice versa) and that was it. Someone made some money on that and I wonder how much Jag have spent on this rubbish.

As said though, all about the product.

If they nail that, this will all be forgotten.

It's weakened the brand though and made it a bit of a joke.

You can have some bad publicity and it might blow over. But when people are laughing at it it's not good.

I think they nailed it.

Basically nothing wrong with the brand, especially with a heritage like Jaguar have - they just need to produce a decent product and there lies the problem.

Not necessarily true though. There have been some amazing products that were marketed badly and died as a result.
The old Audi a2 was a prime example. Brilliant car. Trash marketing. Failed.
My personal favourite...Sega dreamcast.
