Terrible Jaguar re-brand

Different times and different influences id argue on both those. The power of influencing is huge. Few top road tests and everyone will jump in to get one. I hated the A2 but agree on the Dreamcast it was epic

(I own a Dreamcast and it's still connected to the TV)

Not necessarily true though. There have been some amazing products that were marketed badly and died as a result.
The old Audi a2 was a prime example. Brilliant car. Trash marketing. Failed.
My personal favourite...Sega dreamcast.

The Audi A2 was the right car in the wrong century. Especially when fuel was cheap.

The Sega Dreamcast failed because of how poorly Sega did with the Saturn and totally alienated its customer base as a result. Trust was gone and everyone just waited for the PS2.

Jaguar is in a similar problem now. They have totally alienated their customer base who would be the only ones to really afford an "upmarket" Jaguar and instead target a demographic that is absolutely tiny who are mostly poor. They also made the G in Jaguar capital! The more you look at it the worse it gets.

The more this unravels the more Jaguar seem to deserve this. How was this guy given free reign to completely obliterate intellectual property!?

Genius marketing : everyone is talking about it - From ZERO publicity to trending top #3 across all social media

Jaguar have been going no where for 3+ decades - what have they got to lose !

I guess perhaps there’s an element of “any publicity is good publicity”?

It’s still hard not to view an ad campaign that actively alienates and offends most of your core consumer base as being commercial suicide though?

How exactly is this going to drive sales of Jaguar cars though?

Twitter is full of overreactions, quite funny to read. People saying "I was considering four cars, but after this, I wouldn't buy a Jaguar".

The F-Type and F-Pace, especially in SVR flavours are very good cars based on what I've read. My Dad's 15 plate XF was a nice car, it was only really the awful infotainment system that I didn't think was great.

My 16 year old daughter just said how disgusting the rebrand looks.

I know she isn’t the target market but if today’s youth think it’s gopping, it really is very bad.

Someone must be refreshing their CVs as we speak.

Lexus has an old man's image because the cars drive like they're designed for old men....the CVT is one example of this. Lexus can make exciting cars if they want to, just look at the lfa. They just chose not to, sticking to their core demographic of old men.

Agree, lexus Europe have adopted a different approach to lexus north America.

Lexus Europe has decided to go for the more niche end of the market, they had the original is200, it sold very well but mostly to youngsters and they didn't like the image, so they pushed further up market and left BMW to take those punters.

Seems to go well in my eyes. Looks and sounds nice too. Bit of a brute IMO.

No such thing as a cheap Lexus. Keeps the riff raff away, myself included.

Not explored the full model range but I guess it also means you don't end up with a white 116i MSport equivalent in the range.

Their model range is mainly a load of SUV's that are worse than the German equivalents.

The LC500 is great but the sales figures are so small it may as well not exist. Same goes for the LS, I actually wanted to try one but they are so rare.
