Thank god my car is pre 2001 (Car Tax changes)

You picked the car.

The car doesn't matter if you're young you'll always pay higher insurance.

When I started driving petrol was around 85p/l. It's now £1.10/l. Big change in 3 years.

The tax change has been back-dated. The car might have been seen as economical and tax-friendly when it was bought.

I don't see how the "well you picked that car so you're lumped with the costs" attitude is justified.

I love how you keep dodging the 'what do you drive' question.

What do you drive?

I haven't been dodging, simply been watching TV and not reading the forum :D

I drive an Aygo, as it's about the only newish small car that doens't get wrecked in my area, try parking anything here that's flashy, it'll be keyed within a few hours!

I won't even mention the number of times cars in my street have had tyres slashed.

Well there we go then. I'd pay £3000 a year road tax before I drove a Toyota Aygo so you might want to keep the muppets insults to yourself.

You might end up paying that, in the mean time I'll use the money elsewhere rather than handing it over in tax.

RX7 import craziness

Enjoying my £66 for 6 months :D

not enjoying my 15mpg :(

Still, at least you're not paying through the nose on tax :)

I dont think thats the point, I'm not struggling to run my car, I know my tax is going up, and yes I am annoyed, but not that strapped for cash that i'd go and get a tin can. I have more than enough disposable income.

I live in a city, drive up to 40,000 miles a year for work. My mileage money I get back pays for my car - my entire car + fuel + insurance + tyres. If I drove my old car (2ltr turbo) that wouldn't be the case.

"good car" is up for debate from one person to the next, I'd be crucified on insurance alone thanks to the area I live in. At the moment it's a case of fitting the car into the area, rather than getting the one I'd ideally like (M5).

LOL, i'll stick to paying slightly more and driving my v8 mercedes thanks.

As said, keep the insults to yourself, its not as if we dont know that we could save money by driving a shoe. If anything i'd say i get the better deal, my car avoids the high tax (pre2001) yet is actually a proper car.
