It's difficult, I know I've been there, you don't realise how much you use your (at my time) left arm. You just need to bang your hand in your pocket and leave it there.

Ideally strap it up in a sling to stop the movement. If you can get someone, and bear the potential pain, if they can give it a gentle massage to increase some blood flow and help loosen things up it might help. Or even do it yourself which would probaly be safer.

The more you use and move your shoulder the longer it's going to take to heal, especially only a couple days after the intial injury.

Ugh :(

Well...the lady can't do it, because she just had surgery yesterday and can hardly move herself, so we're a bunch of cripples together :p

I'm trying not to use it, but its my 'main' arm as well! So its hard, but even just moving stuff with the other arm or bencding down hurts it cometimes.

gona try book an appointment with the GP anyway even though they're useless and will just say what I already know.

BAH!

Could give some hot/cold baths although is probaly a bit late now.

All surrounding and supporting muscles may well be strained too, traps, lats, rhombs.

Out of interest does it feel like an internal injury or external? as in the heads of the deltoid group? or the joint itself?

Just back in from the doctors ;)

Woke up with the stiffest neck and shoulder ever so I took your advice and went straight to the doctors, the swelling and pain has calmed down a damn sight more than it was last night which is a good sign and after moving around a little I have loosened up to no end.

Anyway, Doctor is 100% positive nothing is broken although I have had no x-rays but I have been prodded and poked and twisted and turned into even more pain than I was in originally, luckily the Co-Codamol and ibuprofen seem to be working although it sucks to be drowsy :) I've got to go back in a week (Or sooner if anything changes or gets worse) I can now turn my head a bit more to the right which is good ;) and moving my arm /shoulder is not as bad now the swelling has gone down but it still hurts like a ***** and I am still swollen. But all in all good news really (There was no bad news anyway) So onwards and upwards.

Seems I am not the only one having a crap week, it must have been a bad day for Christopher's because my nephew (same name age 5) arrived in Corfu yesterday and this morning I get a text telling me he fell on the edge of the pool trying to back flip or something resulting in 6 stitches in one of his lips  Not a good start to a holiday :D

Might give a bath anyway, never have baths :p

No idea, it feels all around the joint....Basically, the delt area, and the front around the collar feel most affected, and my traps I think....Also, if i prod my in the middle of my chest at the end of the collar bone it is BRUISED, well ,feels it...unless its the muscle on top.

Its just so annoying, my girlfriends bed bound basically from having a hole in her neck after the op, i'm a cripple, theres loads of washing to do, and ive got to do dinner somehow while having nothing in the freezer, and no money to do anything because im being paid penuts.

Yes, it's going that well!!!! :p

Still not quite sure if it's a muscle or joint problem for you! But either way you know what not to do!

If had a missus (*play worlds smallest violin here*) and she was bed bound I'd be giving her the rumpy pumpy none stop while she can't get away :p

Someone on here has a code to get a discount as well.

On a side note, did a PB last night on Benchpress, 105KG for 6 reps on the 4th working set, well chuffed! :)

MP91240 :p

Took it for a fair while.

It deffinatley helped minimise my DOMS and made what DOMS I did get much more bearable and last no where near as long.

I was taking it on an empty stomach 15 minutes before breakfast, dinner and bed. Also has associations with boosting GH levels if I recall. Thread over on MP about it in regard to treating injuries I think.

The empty stomach part is vital as amino's compete for absorbtion and L-glutamine looses. So take it on an empty stomach for maxmimal effect.

When it's £15 a kilo you can't really complain. I also 'mega-dosed' it a few times at around 10-15 grams for a while as I was confused as to what I should actually be doing with it. Didn't notice any difference between a 5 and 15 gram dose. Supposed to give you the trots in large quanities.

Its definitely working for me. Squatting 3x a week is a killer and I used to be hobbling around the office as I was truly DOMSinated! But after taking L Glutamine (As per their instructions; 5g morning, 5g lunch, 5g before bed) and I feel fine, in fact it almost feels as if I haven't been lifting, just a tiny bit tight. Very strange, but I'm liking it so far!

It does improve, glutamine is very beneficial not just on that aspect but overall health, recovery. I personall take high doses of it for my gut as it helps on that area... I just get from holland and barrett, tablets a lot more convenient, 500mg. I take 3 in morning, 3 after training and 3 before bed. So 9 total (4.5g).

Tis a kilo of powdered on MP for £14.99 at the moment. Might save you a bit of £££.

Quite like the taste strangely.

Lol I waited till holland and barrett had a sale on then I had a 50% off coupon so stocked up and got it for all mega cheap, vit c, glutamine, fish oils etc :P. I hate powdered stuff generally, hence why I prefer tablets for everything lol.

I usually just man up as it's good for me, although powders can be a little messy and time consuming.

Only thing I've ever capped is EAA's & Leucine, capped the leucine purely for convienience as I was pulsing 3-4 times a day. EAA's are un-describably horrid. Took me an absolute age to cap them all! must have spent a good 16-18 hours in total.

Love the quote in your sig SPW :)

Cheers, it's great because it is absolutely true but I feel like it's about time for a change though as it's been there a while.

I'm definitely going to have to book myself into the physios soon, I've been putting it off as I thought after taking it a bit easy it was getting better but today my right shoulder was giving me some serious hassle and the weight wasn't even all that heavy.

A lot of the stuff I've read says it doesn't have any effect. How long have you been squatting 3 times a week? Your body may well have adapted to the stress...

2 weeks currently...:p

But I used to squat 3x a week without fail for a couple of months beginning of the year. Just doing 80kg at the minute! Become very week, I guess that's what 7 months off will do! :( Sucks.

I know :( Not sure either! Got a visit to the GP booked for Friday, but by then it'll be too late! Can never get in when I need / want to :(

Haha, and no...if I did that I'd be castrated :p Plus her necks got a hole in it, so no :p

People keep going on about DOMS. I never get it, is this because I train for strength, not hypertrophy?

Don't get me wrong, I still push myself hard, and normally fail my final set of 5, but the only time I've had pain the next day is the first session after a break of a few weeks.

I don't always get DOMS. However, try varying your routine abit (just as a general point), I tend to train for strength as well, however, it's good to mix it up every 6-8 weeks as a general rule. However not having DOMS is not a sign you're not getting stronger, developing muscle etc... Has your strength improved? If so, then you're on the right track! :)

yeah, DOMS aren't always a bad thing, just because you haven't teared your muscle in too every session doesn't mean its been worked enough :p

My shoulder feels 'slightely' better....think its more of a case its just early in the morning!

Dunno if this is the correct thread but iv got a question. I'm 5.10 and have always been skinny. Now 25 iv started eating better to build up and drinking protein and complex carbs shake. Also iv started going on the weights at the gym. 2 weeks ago the max I had ever weighed was 11 stone 8lbs but yesterday I hit 12stone for the first time. I'm looking to gain mass and muscle but wanted to know if say 3lbs a week is ok to be gaining?
