For pre-workout Anadraulic State GT by LG Sciences is great. Had fantastic reviews all round, doesn't give blistering pumps, but for endurance and energy it's pretty amazing. Has a great ingredient combo as well.

Why are you buying supps? If you're looking at some you've got to have a reason behind buying them - so tell us what you're after so others can recommend things. You won't find me recommending any but there are a lot of people here who claim some have helped them a lot, and admittedly there are some supps which do provide some focus/energy/recovery, but only helps in a subtle way if you're relatively in tune with yourself. :)

Furthermore we have a supplements thread:

I'd appreciate it if you kept such discussion in there.

They are quite harsh targets - I doubt I'll hit Elite on any of them - happily I'm over Advanced for most of my lift - but not by much! :(

I take it those are in lbs?

In which case I need another about another 25KG on my deadlift at my current weight (198ish) to hit the Elite category. (451 currently)

Lately, my deadlifting has gone up – however now I am nearing my limits. When I am lifting heavy my back is arching on the way up quite significantly. I am finding it very hard naturally to consciously stop this. Any tips?

Try lifting from a step, so you're higher up/on the same level as the bar itself (not the plates). Squat down keeping your back straight and grip the bar with both arms full stretched down, lean back a bit, gripping on the bar for a bit of support, and then start the lift with your legs.

Doing that has helped me with deadlifting as it brings my legs right into it, makes it easier and more comfortable to lift heavier. I had a previous 1RM of 150, I managed to get 170KG 90% of the way up using this, but I couldn't finish the last 10% because I was burnt out. :p

Doing legs today with Rob. Shoulders yesterday. He worked me to insane levels yesterday, went really dizzy, could barely move my arms, reached failure so many times, but he wouldn't let me stop

Never had a workout like it. So I'm bricking it today with legs

Will create my journal after today as he's giving me a new diet and stuff to take away so will have some info to stick in the thread

Sounds good Steedie!

OT: on lunch at the moment and we were discussing how chinese people eat rice with chopsticks etc. And my line manage pops up with:

'That's why chinese people are so slim, because they eat such small mouthfuls'.

/lolfacepalm

Deadlift - about 2kg short of being elite!
Squat is well off, near on 50kg i think!
Bench is very poor, 30kg off or so.

Sounds like you're being quite hard on yourself!

Bearing in mind 'Elite' lifts are aimed at those that train to perform professionally in the sport. For the large majority of us this is a recreational activity and as such we all have some very respectable lifts for our ages/weights/level of experience.

anyone have a work out to get back into shape? i have bar and weights and a basic bench with leg ext. not looking no go too hardcore now just try and wake muscle's up :D
cheers for any links or input..

Yeah i agree, but i was using the comparison to elite only. In the general day to day things, we are all pretty damn strong on this forum :)

Advanced
An individual with multi-year training experience with definite goals in the higher levels of competitive athletics.

Elite
Refers specifically to athletes competing in strength sports. Less than 1% of the weight training population will attain this level.

Erm..anywhere near to Elite or Advanced is doing bloody well guys!

Weighing in at 68kg,

For deadlift I need to lift 218kg to be in Elite. I'm at 190kg at the moment.
Squat I need 185kg an I'm only at 160kg.

I don't bench since nearly tearing my tendon, so bleh!

For over head press I need 76kg, I'm not far off with my 67.5kg :D

Even so I need just over 3x BW on the Deadlift to be elite, shouldn't be too hard if I up my diet and get on with my training.
