*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

It is a fair bit but for me it was worth it, until I screwed up my shoulder. I couldn't be doing with carrying around a heavy chain!

It's pricey but gets a very good review from me and it'll last many many years.

It's easy enough for me to get bigger and bigger, easy for me to shred fat and water. But I've never shredded down right enough, freaky shredded something like veins up the abs and xmas tree on lower back showing. I need a challenge lol, any ideas? lol.

Do it, sounds great :p I reckon it would be pretty easy for me to shred down judging by my body type etc, just need a crap ton more mass so its actually worthwhile hah.

Count yourself lucky being able to get shredded now if you want :p

I'm putting on fat, a bit more than I want too at the moment, need to adjust my diet, and my body is not looking its best right now :p I have to wait until March until I can start to shift it all!

I've printed that out, thanks Begbie

That's really inspired me :)

I use something similar to this for adding weight around my waist.

The one I have is from the back of a lorry (Not stolen) but actually one of the straps to hold concrete posts and HUGE concrete tubes so it can hold a fair weight, More that I will ever be able to put around my waist anyway.

It's about 5-6 inch wide and originally was around 20ft long but I've since cut it down a bit so it fits around my waist + has plenty of extra length to put some plates on, Doesn't hurt my back with 50KG on it either so it's plenty thick enough.

Yes I did, just not obviously :p

I brought it off a seller on Amazon as it was about $80-90 shipped from the USA and would likely end up with some customs charges on top. Also much quicker. The chaps based in Ireland I ordered mine on Thursday last week and it arrived yesterday so is a quick service,

Not sure if I can link as it's a competitor. The seller is 'IrishFit' alternatively just search 'The Grid Roller' and it should come up.

found this on my first google, seems legit. If it isnt i could always do a chargeback on my credit card, what do you think?

america could work out even cheaper, including customs.

i recently ordered over £200 worth of supps from USA and i paid zero customs so its worth taking the risk.

Looks good. My googling skills are obviously lacking! Searched high and low for it for quite a while too

I brought some DMT Diamond Stones from a seller of ebay in America in my first year of uni for £120. Ended up landed with £30 charges a month or two later. Pot luck I guess!

Long as you pay on credit/debit card you should be protected from any robbing ********/frauds.

Rolled my glutes, quads & hips last night which seemed to have helped my DOMS a lot. Did my pecs and triceps too and they're not too bad this morning either. Hurts like **** at the time though!

Damn shoulder!!!!

I can't even iron without the damn thing nagging at me!!!!!

:( :( :(

I prescribe some Star trek online, boifreeze and a good helping of steak and green tea.

You mean you have a sandwhich for dinner? =/ =/ =/

The only way a sammich is dinner is if it's made of two pieces of steak with chips and onion rings in between them. That's a Sammich.

I presume you actually mean star trek online? :p

And...Boifreeze? Ill have a quick google. Steak and green tea may be able to be sorted.

Although depends what kind of green tea you mean :p

Yes, I'm a massive trek geek. Not the to extent I buy loads of crap though.
So get playing online, blow some crap up. :P

I used biofreeze on my arm when I hurt it.

I only get my green tea from the Asian Import store in dublin. :D

Well an update

On Sunday I went to a proper gym and had a personal training session with a body builder called Mark Palfrey. I wanted to work on my squat as it's the weakest of all my lifts due to form. After about and hour and 20 mins I feel my form came along so so much. It's a lot better now. I have 5 weeks(ish) until my first comp so I'm hoping to get up to about 200k squat for 1R max for that comp. Then hoping to get up to 280k by March.

Did a new PB on 5x5 working bench last night, did 127.5k. Next week I'm trying for 130k.
And I'm down to 22 stone now :)

Which routine would be better:
Today:
Shoulders and Abs
Tomorrow:
Chest and Biceps

OR

Today:
Shoulders and Biceps
Tomorrow:
Chest and Abs

Any thoughts? Or a case of six and two threes?

Good stuff cHk4.

Mind if I ask what you're currently squatting? As adding 80KG to a lift in 3 months would be a tremendous effort! Normally taking people years!

Edit: Monkee, you've got a pressing movement on two consecutive day which will prove difficult with fatigue/DOMS. Your delts will get worked with your chest day and would (obviously) be needed on your shoulder day. So working something two days in a row would be difficult, most likely painful and more likely ineffective.

Out of those options the best bet, imo, would be to do chest & shoulders on one day and the your Bi's & Abs the next. As homo as bi's and ab's sounds :p

i just bought some vibram five finger's the kso's in black (for squatting, deadlifting, walking, skipping, etc) and ordered black op's for the ps3, so im gonna wait 2-4 weeks til i have a bit more cash on me then i might get one of these rollers to try out, ive always wanted to go see a chiropractor/masseuse but i was told you need to on a regular basis to see the long term benefits. so i have never went due to how expensive it is.

thanks for sharing your experience. i'll report back on my vibram's if anyone is interested. you can get some good looking fakes off the bay for £20 delivered with extremely high positive feedback, but i opted for originals from an mp3 player shop in edinburgh at roughly £88 delivered (deal of the day), specialising in advanced players, they are listed as an authentic retailer on the vibram's website. i didnt want to take the risk on fake's not being made to the same spec, and causing my feet/legs pain or extra stress.

Cheers mate,

my squat is 180k - with terrible form and with doing about 3-4 squat sessions. Since I had my PT session and got the form down I found it much easier and feel with it I could do a lot more. I like setting my sights high so I don't slack. I have roughly 5 months until the comp in March, that's a long time to get some lifts up. I've always had monster legs (around 30 inch upper leg, 20 inch calves ) and just feel with good form I could reach my target :)

My 1RM on my bench 3 months ago I think was 120k and now it's 160k, my dead lift was 180k now 225k so I'm heading in the right direction I think :)
