If you are going to work out to get in better shape, then put a leg workout in your week.

Get a structured diet and add cardio to end every workout that you do.

Losing weight across your mid section through both your diet and cardio will keep your much more focused and motivated. You will see more of what is happening by improving your bodyfat levels and it will inspire you to add intensity to your workouts, thus improving your overall size and shape.

Good luck in reaching your goals, its pretty amazing what can be achieved in a short space of time if you are determined to hit your targets.

all the best!

^I've not done cardio in 6+ months and have a pretty sedentary life apart from lifting and I have got leaner if anything and bigger pml. If I find im getting a bit watery or gaining some fat I just manipulate the diet simples. Just for any of the lazy ones out there who want an easy option ;).

Alough I wouldn't advocate doing cardio after every single workout. personally.

It's all good if you can stay lean without doing cardio, however you should not neglect it totally as it will have a positive impact on your body. Lowering heart rate, create more energy etc - you can still be lean and unhealthy.

I have seen some of your pics. You are very muscular so lifting the weights that you do to maintain or increase your physique would use a lot more calories than our friend hux would use per session. You obviously have a good diet too, you dont achieve that look without discipline and knowledge.

The fact is Hux needs to reduce his BF levels. The best advise you can give anyone who is hux's size/age/shape is to lift heavy, intensify cardio and change your diet. This will improve his level of fitness for his weight training sessions. Losing weight through diet and exercise will help motivate him to his goals. Introducing a good diet will complete his lifestyle change.

I cardio after every session, but my goals are different than others here. My aim is get ultra lean. My bulking days are over. I want to be 12 stone with single digit bf levels. Cardio after a training session burns calories far more effectively than at any other time, thats why I do it, and so should he!!

Hux appears to be quite a big bloke, but as he said he would like to lose some weight around his waist, introducing cardio is the best way to do that!

Absolutely! Having a health CV system is also critical to your lifting as your recovery and ability to transport nutrients and oxygenate blood around your body will be improved.

Your heart is a muscle too - it needs to be exercised. Cardio alone is boring though, hence why I prefer sports! :D

This is what I struggle with (When my body permits me to lifting weights...rather than breaking and tearing tendons left right an center thus stopping me!!!)...I love lifting, its the cardio, I got a skipping rope as I hate running, and its bad for my knees, but my garage roof is to small for the rope :p And I dare not do it outside cause I might be SEEN!!!:eek::eek:

I did swimming a while ago, but now I cant afford it (Swimming was good for me as I cant do it anyway, so it really was a good cardio session.

If I could just get on with it without caring what others think I'd be great...I'm also having trouble breathing lately (lol...Sounds great? :p) so i'm going to th docs about that...Went the other week and the docter said I was fine...Well tell me, if I'm sitting here during the day having to try and FILL my lungs prperly by breathing in deep and still not getting that 'fukk' feel, there must be comething wrong :p

Did back and tri's last night. Next week's tricep work out I'm going to try dips for the first time, and maybe also close grip bench press, as I've had that recommended to me from a lad at the gym.

However did my back work out as well, widegrip pull ups, close grip pull ups, deadlifts, then lat pull down. Went for volume for deadlifts as well as hitting a new personal best of 90kg for reps. Probably not as volume-tastic as what others can manage, but my first time and I was quite chuffed. Definitely felt it, was dripping with sweat and felt ace afterwards!
20kg x 12 (warm up)
40kg x 12 (warm up)
60kg x 10
70kg x 10
80kg x 10
90kg x 6
60kg x 10

Lol couldn't agree more m8. It does need to be done and I do plan to at some point just with the winter months it's cold outside and I really can't be bothered lol.

not trained in 5 days now, due to hurting my right shoulder (overhead press). going to give it another week. cissus is hopefully helping it to heal. i have a hospital appointment with a specialist for my knee (football injury), next week too, im going to mention the shoulder to them too, see if i can get it looked at properly.

killing 2 birds with 1 stone, well 3, ill get them to look at my left elbow too (old lifting injury) hurts whenever i do certain tricep exercises.

feel like im getting old with all these injuries, the main worry is the shoulder, i hope it's nothing serious, ive never felt like this before over an injury, im not in any pain, just a slight burn every now and again, i have a feeling that something aint right, so i havent touched any weights since it happened. hopefully the 2 weeks off is enough for it to heal by itself.

i can move it in any direction i want and its pain free and lifted heavy shopping no problem. even picked up a grown person and nothing. im hoping it was just a pull or something small.

No. Cissus will NOT help it heal - it will reduce the inflammation and aleviate the pain to a certain amount. Rest and rehab exercises will help it heal or strengthen the weakness, supplements and drugs do not fix tissue.

I've dislocated my shoulder and have re-occuring issues with it, hence why I'll never do very heavy bench pressing, or have paticularly powerful overhead press. However, it's strengthening and developing, but it's taken years and will take more time.

Take it easy, see a good physio, and do some good rehab work and maybe stop pushing yourself beyond your body's current capability. And hope your injuries are minimised soon.

Jesus Sonny, your supposed to go workout to improve your physical fitness. Sounds like you need a body transplant :p

I hope you get your injuries sorted out. I use a chiropractor/physio quite regularly. I had problems with my neck a few years ago and recently had a twinge in my knee. She sorted them both out. I swear by their methods now. If ever I get a muscle spasm/twinge, which to me is what you are implying. I get an appointment to see her straight away. The fact that she is also a personal trainer and trains others to take bodyfat measurements etc, she has many valuable skills that all come in handy!!

All the best with your recovery mate!

Hmm...Think I was doing overhead press when my injury occurered as well as the bench...not sure though...May just be me being panicky

BAH :(

I'm not sure of my exact figures for myself when it comes to bodyfat, but on bodybuilding.com they had a thread where people posted their pictures and the members who seemed to know what they were talking about would tell them what their bodyfat percentage is, and from looking at other peoples pictures and comparing them to myself I came to the conclusion that maybe I'm around 20% bodyfat and obviously I'd love to be 15% or less.

I came to this conclusion like 6 months ago though and I'm more then a stone lighter now, so when talking about bodyfat if I was 20% does this mean with each stone I lose of fat if I'm 18 stone now that it means maybe am 19% bodyfat? so when am 17 stone maybe I'll be 18%....

hmm well actually that doesnt make sense, coz I reckon if I lost all my bodyfat to a point where I looked ripped that I'd still be around 17 stone, I really cant see me ever getting less then 17 stone for rest of my life...

Well what do you guys think, do you loose 1% bodyfat perstone or 2% per stone, or 3% per stone? How do you work this stuff out?

Thanks in advance.

So I've done it! i've done cardio! can you believe it pmsl.
I signed a 2 year membership with some gym that opened a few miles from me so I'll use my bodybuilding gym for the weight training and this gym for treadmill etc. Just doing HIIT fitness is pretty dire but I'll get there :L.

I don't see it as losing fat with weight loss. I don't really focus on weight so much. You can't really correlate or put a formula to how many stones = how many lbs of fat etc...

If you weigh 18st and are 20% BF it means that 3st 8lbs is fat.
