*** The 2013 Gym Rats Thread ***

Weak in comparison to what? Your bodyweight? That doesn't really make any sense does it ;). Generally if your squat is 1.5-1.75x bench and deadlift is 1.75-2x bench then your on the right track, ish.

My brain gets full of funny ideas sometimes. I suppose I'm about right with my squats and DLs then.

I jus gets jealous of dem big men and der big weights :(

Based on what you're lifting you may find pull ups quite hard at 100kg BW but that's no reason to not even try. I'm pretty sure I was only managing reps of 4-5 when I started but progress is surprisingly quick. It should be bloody hard work.

Also again I don't want to pretend I'm an expert but I'm sure other members will agree that 2 well thought out sessions a week can still be highly productive. Rest/diet are just as important as training which is why these kids who hit the gym 5 times a week doing bicep curls are still the same size/strength a year later. (I know, that was me @ 18/19/20! :D)

What are everyones thoughts on dynamic stretching as part of a warmup?

I don't stretch before training, i just do 40% of my first exercises weight (Deadlift) for 3x6 with a minutes rest between sets, but i do stretch afterwards at the end of my workout.

Correct, the way to progress a lift, is to train it

When I first started I used an assisted pull/dip station. Just progress from there as you would with any exercise. Negatives are a good option too, jump up and hold yourself for a second or two and then slowly lower yourself down.

You'll be hanging plates off yourself in no time.

This was plastered all over the gym this morning, only in S.Wales would you have such a need for this notice.

Oddly that used to happen in the call centre that I used to work in too. Some very weird people in Wales.

Makes a change from the usual 'put your weights away' and 'you must wear shoes at all times' notices.

Who's going to a) be in the same cubical to witness it or b) mess with someone that has those kind of issues though? :o

The mess is spreading past the toilet, walking in last week a poor girl from reception has to walk into the men's changing room to clean the showers. The culprit had decided it was a good idea to have a mud pie splat of **** all over the showers leading into the pool!

Not Cardiff? incidently, If I caught someone doing that he would be licking it back up with his lips.

Kill yourself. No seriously, if wiping your own **** on the walls starts to sound like a decent idea, suicide should be seen as a viable option.

that is real commitment to your cause, i mean not just wiping your ass rubbish all over the walls, but committing to a gym membership, and all those fake workouts you had to do so that they wouldn't easily be able to blame you as the newbie, that's a real artist at work there!

Done Steedies workouts that he put up for LiE, Ice and Dom. Well I got to the gym and forgot the Leg one so I just made one up.

Bit daft doing it 3 days in a row though :(

What on earth was that Steeds?

Really 25 reps followed by 15 on the last shoulder exercise? I used to think you were a cool guy as I was crying into my 4kg dumbbells.
