I have nothing before bed.... I usually eat quite late which is straight after the gym so between 9-10, then bed for before midnight, should I eat something before bed or a shake?

Nah you'll be fine. Only reason i have the casein is because i bought the stuff that was on offer a while back and worked out as cheap as normal whey. Only got a few weeks worth of it left.

I normally have PB on toast and a shake at about 12/half 12 (and for the past week a slab of chocolate brownie too :D) then casein before bed at half 2 ish.

hmmm cbl'ing yet?

Not bothering for the time being, I was going to give it a go now, but it's just not the right time in terms of me being willing to stick to something, I'll give it a go at some point now I've done the reading and had the help from you. But right now, if I'm going to diet, I'd rather just do something that requires as little thought as possible

Stop fapping and go to bed! :D

Some amazing whey users in here :p. 3+ scoops a day! I only really use whey when I'm cutting as it's much easier to fit the macros and cals in than real food, only use it occasionally when I'm above maintenance.

I have 1 scoop in the morning and 1 in PWO shake, need to really work out my macros for my off days and see if I still need an evening shake, probably not...

Whey is just another food stuff to me. 40g for breakfast and 40g for my 1pm meal. My other 3 meals I have during the day are chicken/beef/pork.

an average day consists of 300g chicken in salads

another 3-400g for dinner

shakes are just a top up. As a cheaper source of protein as well compared to chicken it helps keep costs down.

Had a disaster. I've been following the IF LeanGains diet doing the 1-9PM feeding window. It has been great so far. This morning I tried early morning fasted training for the first time.

Workout was OK but towards the end I was hitting brick walls after about 4 reps so packed it in. I was fine for about 2 hours after, actually felt great, then suddenly felt incredibly weak and trembly, so much so I actually left work to lie down. I have no medical conditions so this was quite clearly some sort of exercise induced hypoglycaemia as it slowly wore off after I ate about 1,000 calories of carbs. I'm assuming that due to the calorie restriction on my cutting diet and the intensity of workout (although it wasn't that intense) I completely depleted my stores of glycogen.

According to the Leangains guy that shouldn't have happened but I would highly advise against this type of training. Obviously fasted training is absolutely fine, but delaying your first meal by 4-5 hours after and taking in nothing but BCAAs actually seems pretty ridiculous. I guess we all respond differently but my body did not like it at all. Going to do all my weights sessions in the evening from now on.

Train at 8am eat at 1230-1300 crew checking in.

That's pretty much what I did.

Trained at 7am.

Felt fine until 11.30am when I felt absolutely horrendous like I was going to collapse.

I didn't even over-do my session. I did 5 exercises, 3 sets of each, with plenty of rest between each set. I'm pretty sure I've got my macros wrong and have messed up my calorie intake. I'm 172lbs and been taking in 2,000kcal on rest days and 2,500kcal on workout days. Come to think of it I have been incredibly sore this week, Chest still hurts from my session on Sunday! - but I don't know whether that's calorie deprivation/over-training or just the fact I haven't lifted weights for 2 months.

Experienced something similar myself on my first workout fasted IF / HST. Chundered all my BCAA's back up and didn't finish the workout.

Was training at 10AM with the eat window 12 - 8. Didn't happen since, just took things a bit steadier. That said whilst I was controlling my diet I wasn't in a deficit nor a large surplus.

I'd stick with it because IF is good, training fasted is never easy.
