*** The 2013 Gym Rats Thread ***

Had a comp at our gym today.

Most reps on 60KG Bench press - I won with 56 Reps.

Max Weight Deadlift, tied 220kg 1st with another guy who went in too heavy with his first try going straight for 6 plates otherwise he would have done more than 220kg easily.

And log lifts came second with 10 reps.

Anyway here is my Deadlift vid and my mates log lift.

I normally do not use straps, and do over under grip. However when going for my pb I use the straps as well so I'm not going to change to over over grip as it feels alien to me.

Over under with straps feels good for me

You should try unequipped deadlifts ;) I'm confident you could do a max lift without any grip issues with mix grip and some chalk.

56 reps at 60kg!? Wow I can only lift 40kg about 14 times. My friend is known as mr strong in the gym and he can lift 60kg only 10 times and is real proud of it! I couldn't even imagine lifting 60kg 56 times, what the hell.

Squat and bench are strong for your bodyweight bud, and 2x bw on anything is always awesome.

Being comfortable and feeling safe plays a huge part, I'm sure you'll be good for more if you get more bros to massage your ego.

I can feel my Gym Ratz 1RM improving already. Didn't realise how much of a whiney bitch I was until I just read that back.

Gym rats, good place to get cheap nuts and dried fruits? H&B always have offers but not sure if they are best value, was also looking at Costco

Costco do big ol' bags of nuts and some nice dried fruit mixes.

Tesco's mixed bag of raisins/sultana's/peanuts/cashews/almonds is a winner.

I'm certainly no pinnacle of strength (I can't beat let alone match the feat in question) but that be one pussy ass gym right there :p

LOL showed my friend this and he doesn't believe he can do it he wants a video. We've been working out for 7 months now, I guess we are just naturally weak

Well we was talking about it today to someone who can bench 120kg and he said hypertrophy must have kicked in at around 25 reps. He said you could do it but wanted to know how long you've been lifting and are you he including weight of the bar too?
