Mock Meet 02/01/2013

Squat
180kg PB
185kg PB :)

Bench
120kg PB

Deadlift
210kg
225kgx0 :(

Pretty pleased, although I'm annoyed about the deads. I was just getting so tired, hip flexors were ropey as hell. Bench should have been a little higher as well really but I was having some difficulty with my left shoulder which was making it pop up :/.

Shameless copy and paste.

^ nice, what better way to start the year than with PBs :D

So much for the new years resolution brigade, gym was almost empty today:( I wish it was as exciting as Stiv's, I always seem to lift more with females around :D I have a very good feeling about squats this year, might overtake deadlifts as my fav exercise, I just need to get my technique spot on.

First backload of the new year, feels so good!

Backload doesn't sound good. Did the condom burst?

That assumes someone would pull out...

Hahaha! Also ice, congrats on the MOH, I must have missed the thread :) Kept thinking you were FF until I saw the name

Foam roller came yesterday and just there my smelling salts and wrist wraps came, can't wait to use them :D Squats later and I hope my glute/back is feeling better. Since a few weeks ago when I attempted the 205 and it felt funny so gave up before it came off the floor. Doesn't feel like I've hurt anything just feels like its staining a bit when dead lifting and lost a bit of power on squats. After all the painful rolling and stretching last night it better because I couldn't find and sore/tender spots

good start to the new year for me, I didnt over do eating at xmas (lack of sleep though) and managed to improve my benching after a month of struggling to move past the same weight.

i have gone off squats though (I know I know!) , I really feel they shaft me for the rest of my workout and I just dont think its worth it at the moment if I can make better gains without them - we will see though maybe il just do them once a week instead of 4 times. :/

a lot of new people at the gym though, its nice to see - I just wonder how many will still be here in 2 weeks time.

So squatting in smith machine yay/nay? That's the best they have at my gym.

Also had a ham/egg sandwich, followed by a home made ferrero rocher/ben& jerry milkshake as my PWO meal/snack, those gains.

If you can get on with it then it'll do but personally I can't my body doesn't like moving in a fixed plane.

ARRGH can't walk.

I missed this :D

Well guys, ended up trying Kiss gym today as I needed to do something before next week, pretty much spent most of my time in this:

Along side the other racks that were empty :p

All in all, it's not bad, they just need a dedicated bench press rather than the cruddy machine thing that's there currently and I'd probably join up...After experiencing Kiss, Pure doesn't seem that bad even with the DB limitation, I will need to see however if they have spare barbells laying around as that could get interesting at Pure.

That would be my issue, they would soon have to increase the number of plates there :p I'm just going to do it, and either do morning or evening training.

Thanks

Myself and a friend came to visit Puregym MK last night for a look around. I was impressed and would have joined up however the only reason for not joining was the dumbbells being limited to 36kg.

This was also the only limiting factor for my friend. I was surprised to be told that the 36kg limit was company standard. With regards to this matter I would happily join Pure over my current gym, if the dumbbells ranged to 50kg, as would a number of others I know and train with currently at DW, and a few people from work who currently train at Kiss.

Is there any review of this matter possible. Another 6 pairs of dumbbells would almost certainly lead to 10 additional new members, and more once the information was more widely known.

I wonder want kind of response might be had

Nice one, I just emailed also. :D

Was it Naj Chekaya you emailed?

"Phaggot. Y no barbell luv?"

;) :D

That was the response I got pretty much the other day from the general gym email:

Thankyou for your enquiry. The dumbells go up to 36kg. A training alternative is to use an Olympic bar (we have four of these) and the plated weights

as this will enable you to train with as much weight as you require. We have a dedicated barbell bench press. We have 2 squat/power racks and two

smith machines with loads of benches available

;) :D

they have plenty of barbells so i dont need to raise an issue there!

2 squat racks, 2 smith machines, 4 spare oly bars, 8 multi adjustable benches, 2 decline benches, 2 incline benchs, 1 fixed bench press rack! all that but only db's to 36kg is quite lol

Nice one, I just emailed also. :D

thats the one
