Really starting to feel the benefits of going to the gym on a daily basis.

Walking up hills is a relative breeze compared to 3 months ago, I'm not doing (what I consider) a lot on the weights and the benefits of protein far exceed that of it's cost.

Here's to another tough month starting tomorrow.

Good work! Keep at it! :)

Looking at people lifting more than you and assuming that they are doing it right is a dangerous thing.

Some lean back is ok, but the spine should remain in neutral. If your spine position changes (does you rib cage rise relative to your hips?), then you need to use less weight to control the movement.

Something I need to look at I think...

Started 5x5 in Jan this year and managed to get to bodyweight squats but ended up injuring my lower back, mainly doing deadlifts with weights I don't think I was really ready for. I liked the program, but for me it just progressed too fast.

I've since switched over to All Pros routine fro BB.com as below and have been progressing well.

I'm now on cycle 2 and have put on some decent size, and am planning to run it until at least the end of the year.

The only negative has been that the £400 Ted Baker suit I bought 2 years ago no longer fits, mainly around my legs. Stupid squats...

Welcome to the world of nothing fitting off the shelf ever again.

Yeah not cool. My girlfriend bought me a medium short sleeved shirt from next last week which has already gone back as my arms are too big. They're not big at all though, but can see this being a recurring problem. Large will be too big around the wait/torso. Oh well lol.

I was just discussing my shirt tent troubles with a female friend her recommendation, buy womens shirts because they've got to fit their rack in somehow!
While I can see her thinking I'd hate to see the size of woman that would wear the same size shirts as me!

So back to gym after a month off (only lost 2kg in weight) but the strength is gone. Forget 140x5 on the squats, I could barely do 100x5. Put it down to 80kg and am going to run SL/ICF for a few weeks until I get to where I was before..

Gym Environment

How many of you feel that a gym's setup or environment has a direct impact on how good or bad your workouts are?

I ask because a few months ago I started visiting (I go every Saturday) my friend's gym. It's a gym just north of London called the Monster Gym. I bloody love it and always leave with a pump and a feeling that I've had a really good session.... When compared with workouts at my current /local gym. I seldom feel the way I do after visiting the Monster Gym.

I think it may have something to do with the overall environment. My current gym is fairly big but doesn't have nearly as many tools. Also the clientele at my gym is usually (depending on what time you go) filled with youngsters more interested trying to look cool by throwing little 20kg weights around and socialising. My friends gym is completely different. It's more basic and has a no nonsense feel to it. I've been going there for a while now (I'd sign up if it weren't so far) and I absolutely love it...
