This competition has now finished, see below for a full round up of results and the trophy award ceremony!

Format & Guidelines

I will be initially looking for 12 players to make 4 groups of 3, each player playing the other's in their group twice. The top two from each group will go through to the knock out stages. (3pts for a win, 1pt for a draw - Extra time does not count.) There will be a second knock out stage for those teams finishing in 3rd and 4th Place in their group, however the champion will be the winner of the main knock out stage.

This Format will be confirmed when we have an Idea on how popular the competition will be. I may increase the numbers to 16 or 20 players if the demand is there.
Edit: Right this has been upped to 20, due to there being a lot more demand to play than I had originally thought.

Please note: Priority will be given to those who have proved reliable in previous competions.

The Cup competion will be using 3.5 and 4* international sides.

If lag causes a game to be unplayable then it should be quit and rescheduled, but please make sure this is obvious to your opponent that this is the case. It is worth trying swapping host if you are consistantly getting problems.

It is virtually impossible to judge which player's connection is causing the lag problems, especially if they get decent connections with other players, so attempting at another time is the only real option, other than that each incidence will need to be looked at seperately for a decision to be made on the next step.

That would even out the "fifa AI" and make it so that its the player who is entirely winning and not just the team.

The teams I have decided to use are 3.5 and 4* International teams, handily there are 22 of these teams which covers the number of players.

As it is going to be drawn at random, and the difference between 3.5 and 4* is minimal I feel that this is still fair, as it is pot luck if you get a 3.5 or a 4* side.

There is to be no team swapping, your drawn team is final.

Please begin your group stage games, remember to play each team twice (home and away), extra time does not count, it is the score at the end of 90 minutes, so draws are possible.

When you have played your game please post up your results, if they have been posted by your opponent already then please quote them to confirm.

I was considering drawing a knock out round for the 3rd, 4th and 5th placed players seperately, if the demand was there.

i.e. 1st and 2nd go into the overall winners tournament, then all 3rd placed players go into a knock out to find the best 3rd placed player. 4th placed players go into a similar knock out and same with 5th placed. Then the competition continues for everyone.

But the main competition needs to have players knocked out somehow otherwise we may aswell not bother!
