The 5 year plan to £50k

was wondering about this thread... it was made in the summer, 5 months later has the OP done anything towards his 5 year target?
 
Hi Op.

You're living in one of the most deprived areas of the country with a very well paid job. Not only well paid for your area but a decent wage anywhere in the country.

In Cornwall you're not going to find a wage much higher by switching to something completely new. It would be sensible to stick with where you are and apply for a new position.

What are your interests? Do you have any? Why not get a job related to your interests.

You hate your current job. What job would you enjoy? Why does it have to pay 50k? Does your aim of 50k matter so much if you're unhappy on a VERY decent wage. Can't you get a job that interests you that doesn't pay so well?

I work on my hobbies and hope that one day they will pay off. I earn nowhere near what you earn.

You are in a ridiculously fortunate position to be earning 27k.
 
I always want this thread to come to an interesting conclusion but nothing seems to. I remember foxeye was buying a car but I don't think even that came about. I might be wrong though.

Fingers crossed he's a touch closer to living an independent life!
 
Foxeye does seem active on the threads but is obviously ignoring this one. I'm not surprised, I expect he has ignored everything he set out to do (I bet he hasnt even got a cat or car yet).

I did, in that thread in motors, yonks ago. About going to Bristol. Got myself a nice little 1.3 Yaris, petrol.

So the truthful answer is I do have a car, and I do have a cat, and I do still have a job down here until March. Before March comes around I hope to have found another job up country somewhere, paying more than the 27k I'm on currently. Probably still in IT as I don't really have a knack for anything else.
 
Good on you, Fox. Hope you feel things are moving in a positive direction.

(had to laugh about the settling-in difficulties you had with the cat, though. I maintain that cats are bloody horrible creatures, the reality of which is significantly less fun than the fantasy :) )
