The 5 year plan to £50k

Yeah, light heartedly.

This is also true, I hope it isn't all fabricated.

Oh come on. Why would I make up a story about buying a Yaris from Bristol? :p Surely if I was going to the trouble of inventing a car to buy, it'd be something a little more hip :p

Honestly, I have a 53 plate silver 1.3 Yaris. 66k miles. As real as you like.

On the journey home, I had to Google how to open the petrol cap from my phone :p Then when I got back I noticed it was missing the driver's side sun visor. And the engine makes little pinking noises at low revs, which I'm not used to driving diesels at work.

Or maybe I just made all of that up! I guess you'll never know for sure. :p

Well ya gained a bit of respect from me for making it that far dude.

On the scheme of things how has having a car affected your life? Are you wishing you had freedom earlier?

It hasn't affected me all that much currently. I mostly use it for non-essential travel. Trips that I just wouldn't have made before. Like driving out to the country to look at old mine workings.

I do envisage it enabling me to move out next year tho.

Is it something I should have done earlier? Probably. People just expect you to have transport these days. And I do like driving :) Novelty hasn't worn off yet.

That's good, it's good because you are making trips you would have otherwise avoided. In doing so you've added a bit more dimension to your life and improved your prospects of meeting interesting people.

Roll on 2015 for life outside the basement :-D

Thanks. I'm sticking in my 27k job until it finishes in late March. In the meantime, I'm enjoying my cat, my car, and my greeter freedom to go where I please. I might take a month off in April as I never took a single holiday from 2010 to 2014 so I think I owe myself a break :p

Moving out is still proving to be a massive mental block. Atm I can't imagine living on my own.

I'll bump the thread myself if anything changes :p

What you see jobs advertised for and what you might get paid if time served and working hard are not the same.

I am an accountant yet most jobs when I was last searching was only £30k when at the time I getting paid £10k more already.

In my current position which I have had for 2 years i got a 18% payrise last year and 11% this year.

Also depends on which part of the country you live.

Tube drivers get 50k after they have completed their 6 months training.

Prove me wrong, I've given help in this thread, but I am skeptical, I give the same advice to loads of people asking how to "get offshore". The end of the day you have to make the change in your life, people will always doubt you.

The main point is why now? Why not 10 years ago? or 5years ago?

KaHn

Because everyone is different? People have different priorities at different stages of life?
