The Acer ONE Thread

get a 16gb sd for about 30-40 £££'s dont for get your going to want 2 of them one for each slot so i dont know looking at just under 300 with 2 sd cards giveing u 40gb of space on there

I've been wanting one of these UMPC's for a while now, All i want is a small light and durable pc i can throw in a bag and surf the web when i'm out and about. I don't want a hard drive as it's a moving part and not durable so I have to have a UMPC with SSD/Memory card etc. I also want to get in to Linux as i already have Windows and OSX machines and would really like to try Ubuntu and Compiz Fusion.

I rejected the EEE 701 because of the limited screen resolution and the EEE 900 because of price. I was seriously thinking of a Wind but it comes with Hard drive and like the EEE it's going to be over £300.

The Acer One however ticks all my boxes and comes in at a great price. At the moment this is the UMPC i would buy if it were available, I think Dell will have to pull something really special out of the bag to compete with Acer.

Anyone know if these are gonna be readily available on the high street? I have some vouchers for a place I don't normally frequent which I would like to use on buying one of these.

Dunno, I thought it was supposed to be out this week but I can't find anywhere online that stocks them... but I could just be looking in all the wrong places.

Some smart features there that make it better than the 701, i particularly like the way it represents the SSD & SDHC as a single drive volume on the linux version, it's minor but a good idea.

Also the idea to feature 2 SD slots, one for permanent storage is a fine feature that shows they're listening to the customers.

Have to admit they'll most likely get my money.

I heard rumour this was released today, well I have been in every computer shop on tottenham court road today as I am in London. None have it in, and only one shop had heard of it, and no info on when it would be released.

Oh well, worth a try.

twice as much memory, over twice as much storage, bluetooth, monstrous battery life, multi touch pad and it even has a bag :p (also has two internal mpci slots and a 1.8" zif connector). Sounds better to me?

i think the 901 has 802.11n but dont know i might be thinking of the 1000
