The Air Rifles & Pistols thread

About 10k? (Pounds)

You can get one of those Browning rifles for about £1400-£1500.

Next tier up are the Tikka's, about £2k

Then accuracy international rifles... £4k.

Then sort of the top end without going specialist/unusual are the Barrett rifles, those are £6k.

Realistically there isn't a lot in it, a lot of it is brand tax, and people will pay because it's cool to have the same rifle that is used for police/military.

The accuracy international rifles are my favourite and you can basically get the AWM from the original counter-strike, which is cool, but £4k is too much to justify spending.

Ah didn't realise we could post "real" firearms as well. Will put some pictures up soon! :)

Yea there is another thread, it's not against the rules to post real guns on here, to be honest I'm not going to hijack this one any further as it is an air rifle thread.

Edit: here

I left the FAC club I was going to after 18 months as they were very cliquey and some odd people in the club too. They also had an obsession with posting gore and trans porn in the club whatsapp group which i found fairlyu weird considering they were all married men 45+ years old. The air rifle club I go to is has 15 clubs, mainly firearms, that shoot out of it and the club sec is well in with the other clubs and part of the range sec so if i want to pick it up again i think i should get a reasonable in to one of the FAC clubs.

Pic from a few weeks ago after i was setting up the scope

Ah Porchester Road, always felt like I needed a gun on me to not get mugged on the way there

A lot more than here in NZ, a basic Tikka stainless/synthetic is about $1800nz. I have only 2 Tikkas now (sold my 7mmMag to a mate) and a couple of Browning X-Bolts which i love.I have 13 now , including a .22 slug gun and my 1187 shotgun. Would like a 25-06 but trying to find one with a 24" barrel is difficult.

Doesn't surprise me, everything in the UK is expensive.

I have 6 at the moment, most recent one is a Kar98k, with "BYF 43" stamped on the receiver, so built by Mauser in Obendorf in 1943.

Whilst I cannot be sure every part is matching, the serial on the receiver and several different parts of the bolt are all stamped, and all match, the stock is laminated which is correct for that period, and the barrel strap, and lack of fancy milled bolt spring circle in the stock are all correct for that period.

It shoots pretty straight as well, at least last time I hit an 8" steel plate 14 of out 15 times at 100 yards, that's good enough.

Nice, i don't have anything old and collectable. Oldest I have is my 1187 which I got for my 21st! So only about 26 years ago.

Does anyone know if VMach tuning is still going? I have been out of the game for like 10-15 years and can't seem to find their site any more. I wish I had got my Webley Tomahawk lazaglide tuned back then as it'll probably be impossible to have the work done now.

Also what the hell happened to the prices? Looks like airguns have pretty much doubled in price in the last 10 years. I got my HW97 with a scope and bag for £300 and now its like £600 just for the gun.

Some companies are cashing in their reputation. You can pay 1k for a mass produced springer now. Not that you have to but apparently they're doing just fine asking that much.

Or you can pay a fraction of that for a budget pcp with a less prestigious name that requires much less skill to get good or better results. It's not all bad.

The "hidden" cost of PCP's was always in the 3-12L dive bottles or compressors etc needed to keep the built-in bottle topped up, which usually added another £200-300+ and I know there's cheaper hand pumps but almost no-one really buys those :D

Im sure those air bottles were about £80 when i was shooting in about 2006 / 2008, pellets were about £3.50 a tin if bought in 10 packs and a fancy high end BSA 10 shot bull barrel carbine with huge air bottle was £600.

I had an amazing set up for well under £1000 back then with bipod and nice quality sights and many thousands of pellets.

lol a "cheap" BSA R10 is now £850 ish, Pellets are about £13-15 a tin for non **** ones. Air cyclinders are about £150 min.

I picked up a Weihrauch HW110 for £789 which was a good price and i've just paid £244 for a £300 scope. Pellets my air rifle likes are about £13 a tin. It aint a cheap hobby lol

Don't think any hobby is cheap these days with the costs going up on everything.

I didn't even know there was this thread. I have a few BB hand guns but not used them in years, they just sit in their box.

1 is a P99 and I can't remember what the other 1 is
