Good job i asked here first :p

Thanks for the reply :)

I find it surprising that some people don't ask or don't care, so you're ahead of the game there!
Here are some rules :
http://www.basc.org.uk/en/shooting/airgunning/air-rifles.cfm

Big ones are not shooting where you don't have permission, and not letting pellets leave the area that you have permission.

This is a quite helpful map of some air gun clubs. Obviously they aren't all there but it's a start.

Thanks for that. Just read it all, some very useful info there.

I use to go to a range in Mansfield, don't think it is there anymore though. Can't remember its name or location with only being very young at the time.

Will have to have a look about and see if there is any close that are open weekends.

Again, thanks for the link :)

I have not been to it yet but are you aware of Woodend Farm, just off Jn 28 of the M1.

Anyone got pointers as to where to pick up a cheap air rifle for an intermediate/moderately skilled shooter?

The cheapest I can find is roughly £80 from a Sussex based company.

Second hand is probably your best bet. Airgunforum or airgunbbs have very active for sales sections, and there is always gunstar guntrader and the like if you know what you are looking for.

£80 for new is going to get you something that will probably annoy an intermediate/moderately skilled shooter as it won't be very accurate.

There are some guns at that price range that respond well to a bit of work being done on them, but by the time you have spent money on new bits and time on getting it working correctly, you may as well have bought a decent second hand gun.

A bit anoyed at my self, as went to buy new pellets: RWS Superdome .177.

here for £101 http://cheapairriflepellets.co.uk/r...rainairgunpelletstinof500x20tins-p-71251.html

then found them here for £91.

May be someone knows cheaper? ta

I wouldn't normally reply, but that's really expensive!
The first place I looked was Uttings for £55.99 delivered.

Scratch that you are looking at 20 packs so that would be £105.99
BAR also have them for about the same price.

So you decided that they were the best for your gun then?

Rybo, I spent some time in your neck of the woods, and there's one of the best HFT clubs not too far from you - check out Anston HFT.

Sorry, only just seen this. I will have a look into it. Thank you.

Yet again, i will look into it. Thanks :)

Makhaira, the Anston HFT seems very personal kind of thing. I wouldn't have the time to go out to group meetings and settings courses up etc. Thanks for bringing it up though :)

Mbennett, now thats the kind of thing i am looking for. Might even nip down for a hour or 2 next Saturday. Wouldn't mind a go at archery as well. Thanks for that.

No problem, let me know what it is like because I might go myself. I have also been looking at this place called Idleback in Rotherham near Meadowhall - http://idleback.co.uk/indoor-shooting-range/ seems good if a bit expensive but for the odd shoot that should not be a problem. Also has a gunshop attached and they let you try before you buy.

Arek - you haven't got 9 pence to rub together, let alone £90 for some pellets.

Why not put up some pics of YOUR guns so we can all accept that you are such a good hit with the ladies with your excellent shooting with the hot girls.

I know you shouldn't mock the afflicted, but pfffffft - bwaaahaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. ****.

How is it really expensive when Uttings have em for 10 Tins
Price £48.00. So 2x48 = 106£! ...

And that is why I edited my post saying that it wasn't so good after I realized you were after 20 tins. Not that you put that in your post, the only way I found out was by clicking on your links.

See I knew I shouldn't have replied...
