*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

From the reviews of 4G ready phones in America it doesn't really seem like its worth it at the moment. It drains the battery much faster than WiFi and for the majority of usage 3G is more than enough.

The American 4G phones are based on WiMAX. European networks (and three of the four major US networks) are going to be using LTE.

LTE roll-out in this country is happening between now (!) and 2012. I'd expect to see it feature in broadband dongles before hitting phones. We might start seeing LTE phones in 2011 but it's not going to be mainstream for a while.

Here's the offer:

Instead of paying off your remaining contract in full, simply pay a one-off charge equal to £20 for each full month left on your contract. This reduced cost offer cannot be combined with any early upgrade eligibility you may have as part of O2 Priority List.

Simply enter your contract renewal date below and we'll estimate how much your early upgrade charge will be.

If you don't already know your contract renewal date you will be able to find it out from mid-day on Thursday 10 June by texting DATE to 21302.

Hmmm, mine would work out at £120. Do you pay that up front? If I could sell my iPhone for £300 this would be quite a good deal.

I presume if I want the 32gb I'm gonna have to pay full whack even so it's upgrading too it?

Eh?

I'm struggling to understand :)

My contract renewal is 11/11/10, so that throws £80pm at me? whaa?

It would be a one off cost of £80.

Ah ok, so I'd have to pay £80 up front then.. what.. free phone on new contract? or £100+ for the phone on a massive contract?

Probably £179-229 for the 16gb iPhone 4 on the 18 month £30 contract (100 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited net).

It's basically just a discounted way to buy out of your existing contract and start a new one, I think.

I'll be putting my iPhone on the work marketplace tomorrow then :D

What's a good price to advertise at? £320? (Mint 3GS 32gb with screen protector and case 6 months old)

Think I will wait for the PAYG and Contract prices to be revealed.

I can probably afford to buy one outright on PAYG but want to know what the best value deal will be over the course of the year. Whether getting PAYG and then moving to Simplicity in December or staying on contract throughout. I'd guess PAYG will be the best value - but by how much!

Would cost me £100 to buy myself out of my contract. Contract renewal is on the 18th of December.

Looks like it would be £180 to do that trade in thing with 02 (pay off contract)

I've also just seen that there is an 02 recycle thing that they do, I'm very confused but i'm sure I just saw that they would buy my 16GB white iphone 3gs for £240

I really like the 3G coverage on the Orange map - however I really like getting priority o2 tickets now and again :p

I have an Orange 3G dongle provided by work, the service is pathetic. Even when I can get a 3G signal (which isn't often) the connection speeds are worse than O2. I bought a PAYG dongle from 3 and that is miles better, even though their network is still patchy.

Thats my thinking you see, got raped badly selling some things over teh £200 mark and they suck any point of selling with them as well.

Another question, I take it I can pop the current Sim in it into my O2 Vewrty and use that till the iPhone arrives, then cut it down and pop it back in?

Any chance I could call O2 and just ask for a mSim and transfer the number when it arrives?

I've got my head abit confused (...I lie...its the beer)

When the new iphone 4 comes out, I can walk into an 02 shop and trade in my white 16gb 3gs for £240, pay £180 (£20 a month extra, using the calculation on the website up there^^)... then walk away with a brand new iphone 4 on a tariff about 35ish a month for 18months and £60 in my pocket?

I'm heading to Canada in a month or so and want iPhone 4.

Have to move from contract to pay and go unlocked.

Can't buy when voer there as networks don't want to unlock it. (Couldn't afford to buy the iPhone 4 only for my time in Canada which is under a year. :(

Pay and go prices suck. :(

Using the O2 recycle deal to get some money for my 3G.

But remember to factor in the obscene 10% eBay fee then another 3-4% Paypal fee.

I'm going with the o2 recycle deal, significantly safer than eBay.

despite the 3 % paypal fee, 10 % ebay fee, i'm still over £20 better off than i would be recycling with o2, and thats after postage too. Even more as o2 would likely have deducted 5 % from the value as my phone isnt mint condition. And they've dropped the value in the past 24 hours too. So possibly even more better off.

Don't forget o2 will -5% or whatever depending on the condition. List it on eBay with the correct settings eg do not accept bidders with less than 10 feedback..

No, not quite.

Your 3GS: +£240
Ending contract: -£180
iPhone 4: -£200 (roughly)

It'll cost you £140 to upgrade :)
