Assuming the top model costs £250 with an 18 month £35 contract, it will cost you £880 over the life of the contract.Like a lot of people, I'm a launch day 3G owner and my contract ended sometime in January. I have switched to the O2 Simplicity for iPhone (600 mins, 1200 texts, unlimited data and free wifi) which is £20/month with a 30 day recurring contract.
The question is do we just fork out the price for a PAYG iPhone 4 (assuming O2 will give us a micro SIM for our simplicity contract) or get a subsidised phone on contract that will be guaranteed to be more expensive and offer less minutes/texts? I guess we need to wait for O2 to speak up to see their pricing to weigh up the options. I can't see O2 offering Simplicity customers any sort of upgrade deal.
Option 3 is jump ship to another network.
Not yet.
Hope they hurry up though.
Here's the offer:
Instead of paying off your remaining contract in full, simply pay a one-off charge equal to £20 for each full month left on your contract. This reduced cost offer cannot be combined with any early upgrade eligibility you may have as part of O2 Priority List.
Simply enter your contract renewal date below and we'll estimate how much your early upgrade charge will be.
If you don't already know your contract renewal date you will be able to find it out from mid-day on Thursday 10 June by texting DATE to 21302.

They NEVER give A grade on electronics. Mint is B grade, anything less than mint is C grade or lower.
Wrong. My 1 and a half year old 40GB PS3 and iPhone 3G were A Graded at the Walsall Branch. If you look after your stuff at least, its worth a look although I admit O2s recycling system isn't bad at all.
Assuming the top model costs £250 with an 18 month £35 contract, it will cost you £880 over the life of the contract.
Assuming the top model costs £550 PAYG and you continue paying £20 a month for the next 18 months, it will cost you £910.
I'd go with the marginally more expensive PAYG if you have the money available so you can have some flexibility with your contract and provider.
and it's got a crack on the charger area
Yeah a couple of the lads have done that but mine's coming up to a year old now, not sure if it's still in warranty? I might take it through and chance them swapping it for a new one, could get a good price for a brand new 3GS then too!Apple will replace your iPhone for that under warranty IIRC!
What a **** deal!! My current monthly contract is already £15 pm, so the pay-off deal is useless for me....is this what you get for being a valued O2 customer for the last 12 years
i went on the o2 simplicity tariff precisely so i wasnt tied downand could upgrade. Simplicity is rolling renewal so you can upgrade at any time. I knew the next iphone would be comming about june time when my contract was up in feb and prepared myself.
You seem to forget that you entered into a contract. You are not entitled to anything. Wait until your contract is up if you don't like the prices they are offering.
Its more about the supposed Very Special Offer. It's actually cheaper for me to pay off the contract as normal. They should rephrase their title to "Early Upgrade Offer for SOME Pay Monthly & Business customers"
