*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Hi, im looking to get my wife an iphone 4 for christmas, sim free, does anyone know of the cheapest place to get one?

Students (If you're not just get someone else to get it for you) get discount on Apple products, not sure if the iPhone is included though.

I have a launch day Iphone 4, and yesterday encountered my first 'problem'. I took the phone out of my pocket thinking I got a text message only to be greeted by an 'Iphone overheating' screen. It was -5 outside and a fairly comfortable temperature inside, and I wasn't even using the phone when it happened, that's the odd thing.

Is this likely to be recurring or just a one off? I just switched it off for afew mins then switched it back on, and since then it's been fine. Should I be looking to get it changed from Apple?

Cool site, any catches though?. With having the ringtones that are "free" sent to your phone?. Always a bit wary of things like this, maybe I'm just paranoid!!??

Anyone else have this issue ^ ??

I have had an iPhone 4 now for a couple of weeks after 6 months with a htc desire & am finding the whole experience painfull. Why is the responsiveness so slow? Web browsing is painfully slow compaired to the android phone even though a speed test on the iPhone says it should be great? The touch responsiveness also seems to have taken a step backwards since my previous 3GS?

This is over the same wireless network at home.

I stI'll have the desire with a backup sim card running concurrently with the new phone & am tempted to just cut my losses with the iPhone 4 if it's not a curable problem.

That doesn't sound right at all m8. My iPhone 4 is lightning fast when it comes to web browsing and touch response is the same.

On a separate note I got this message continuously today for about 3 hours :-

I fired up trusty Google and discovered it can either be an issue with the iOS upgrade or something as simple as fluff/dirt stuck on the contacts in the bottom of the phone where the charger plugs in or you fit it to a docking device. Cleaned out the dock/charging port on the bottom with a toothpick and lo and behold, there was a bit of crap in there on the circuit pins. I usually have my iPhone in a protective "sock" but sometimes I just stick it in my pocket without it. I guess that is where the flecks of dust and dirt gather in the port.

sounds broken if thats even possible in that way. mine is as responsive as any other touchscreen ive ever used and safari browses quicker than my brothers desire does on the stock android browser (obviously the iphone skips any flash ads or whatever though)

id say try clearing the desires cache and iphones cache then testing them again...

What's the best screen protector available? may get the Power Support HD anti-glare but heard it makes the screen fuzzy, any one used this?

I just installed an SGP Incredible Shield (also installed an Ultra Matte film which is just amazing btw). It's perfectly clear, feels solid for protection and completely invisible, with the exception that it's a little less fingerprint resistant than the bare glass screen itself. Highly recommended.
