Hmm I was very tempted to order at first opportunity but I've decided to wait for an untethered jailbreak to be released. At the moment, I don't think there's even a tethered JB (which is better than nothing) for either the iPad 2 or the 4S with iOS 5. I remember waiting for over a month for my IP4 to be jailbroken after its release and that wasn't nice, especially when I had to sell my 3GS to fund it!
It looks like Apple have clamped down on firmware signing with SHSH blobs too, apparently there's a new mechanism in place which will make it harder to downgrade to older iOS 5 firmwares that contain the potential exploits required for a JB. If your device gets upgraded by mistake or bricked and Apple release a firmware update, you'll be stuck with that version. It will then require another exploit to be found with the whole process being repeated again. These cat and mouse games are becoming a pain in the ass.
Lets just hope something's figured out soon.

A tethered jailbreak means that you have to connect the phone to a computer every time you restart the phone to apply the jailbreak. An untethered jailbreak means that you don't.

Lockinfo is made pretty redundant by notification centre.
BiteSMS is easily replaced by iMessage and many of the apps on appstore.
SBSettings isn't really necessary and may well be incorporated in an iOS update to the notication centre.
Jailbreaking is only really used for install0us.

See above. Apple is playing catch up with the j/b scene developers and at the moment is behind.
Or those wanting a cheap tethering solution. My work iPhone is jailbroken because the special iPhone tethering add-on is more expensive than the generic tethering add-on and yet includes only a fifth of the data allowance.

Personal hotspot is enabled on all 3 tariffs and is essentially the same. I've got a non-iphone contract and can happily use that out of my data allowance.
