How do we know if we have managed to get one of the initial stocks?

If it's anything like the iPad 2 launch, Apple will allocate all of its stock to its retail stores and you won't get yours until about three weeks after launch.

However, when the iPad 2 came out, Apple's credit card billing system had severe problems. This time I ordered without any problems. Maybe the demand isn't so great?
