Which one are you using at the moment if you don not mind me asking?

Memory hogging is a big no no for me.

.

The full (internet security) version.

It only hogs at the beginning when the amount of memory it uses varies (one time I checked the usage the cmdagent process was using 300,000K of memory), but once all the update processes have been gone through the usage drops down to at least 6,000K total for the two processes that are running for the program.

Ya thanks I know. I want to try the free one first to make sure I like the UI before spending any cash.

The only thing you get for your money is extra support and that isn't worth the money (and I'm considering on removing it from my laptop since takes ages to get through startup and there's the issue with it occasionally sandboxing dropbox and other cloud storage programs that have desktop clients).

I must admit that apart from the price I have always been happy with eset nod32. Maybe I should just stick with what works if Comodo is slow ..

From reading all the reviews i have found the top ones to be

Bitdefender internet security 2013
Kaspersky 2013
ESET system 5

I just bought Bitdefender 2012 as it was £9 for 3 users for a 1 year licence.

ATM running a dodgy version of eset until it arrives.

I got a virus the other week using windows firewall and MSE so i don't fancy getting another. Paid are always going to have the newer updates faster. And for 3 machines for a year is like £0.25 a month per machine.

Nonsense. A paid solution isn't going to give you 100% protection. Learn from your mistakes. Keep all software patched. Don't run suspicious executables.

My antivirus runs out in 4 days. I'm currently using Nortons but i'm looking at switching to Kapersky. Due to my current circumstances I need something that will be quick and easy to install and set up.

Does anyone know if I will encounter problems with Nortons not wanting to uninstall its self or conflicting with kaspersky?

Norton is always a pain to uninstall as it leaves stuff behind if you just use add & remove programs. Go to their website & get the uninstall/cleaning tool & use that. If you can't find it then Kaspersky might have an uninstaller for Norton on their site.

Thanks, I have found the removal tool on their website.

Although I'm not sure weather just to stick with them, I know that their current stuff is supposed to be quite good and it would save me the hassle should it not want to uninstall properly.

You should be ok with the removal tool. Personally I would go with Kaspersky better all round than Norton [I do use Norton DNS though].

heads up guys. If you buy bitdefender 2012 / 2011 cheap from a reputable seller you can upgrade it for free to 2013 and get the rest of ur licence.

I brought internet security 2012 3 pc's 1 year for £9.00 and now have upgraded them all to 2013 and all have 364 days left on their licence.
