Every day PCs I used ESET Home Security (Nod 32). For more professional stuff Symantec Endpoint Protection, yes It's Norton, but to my surprise too it is not a resource hog, in fact it's lighter than ESET/Kaspersky and other well known decent AVs however the interface looks like it was done in 2000 :p

I use Avast (free). I used to use the Virgin Media branded one (Trend micro I believe) and the Blueyonder branded one before it, but I've had too many issues with it so decided to go back to free third parties.

My Avast install is suddenly gone! Windows said it was off so I tried to run it and the .exe is gone, but the Avast folder is still there with other files in it. I downloaded the latest version now, but I can't install it since it says there was an error whilst extracting!

WTF??

Try their uninstall tool,http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility ,then fresh install of Avast 8 after reboot.

Used MSE for years, then ESET, then Webroot (which I promptly uninstalled) - now using bitdefender - no complaints so far.

I use a combo of MSE and malware bytes - but wondering about going to something else? ... Kaspersky looks like it got some nice reviews ...

MSE still not doing too well in latest results at AVTEST even on Win8.

I personally use Avast 8 free version with Malwarebytes free version.

How heavy do you find Avast to be on system resources? I like that MSE doesn't seem to give too much of a performance hit but am thinking about switching AV if MSE isn't as reliable as it used to be.

Very light I find Avast, don't notice it to be honest and this is from a online gamer, also does not use much ram which is another plus point.
