Okay looking at FMP whats all this Full metal panic Fumoffu nonense i can see the complete collection DVD but i'm assuming the Fumoffu is not included

the full set is the first season, fumoffu is the second season that is basically all comedy rather than a mix of comedy and more serious storylines like the first.

The complete collection is the first season in a single box set.

See here for the ann encyclopedia entry for it (ADV don't have it on their site yet).

that made me LOL

:( dear sir my Fumoffu ws not included :(

;)

That was it, Divergence eve, didnt like it at all.
The way it jumped constantly from animation to cg to 3D just did my head in and I didnt think it was very well executed, transitions seemed very poor.

I watched episode one on the Newtype discs so It may have been a non finalised version.

Werewolf,

Why the FMA R1 Tins but UK other volumes ?
And how many of the FMA vols are to have tins ? (was it 2)
UK ones got something better than the US ?

McDaniel theres some lovely boxsets if you look about.
The Ninja Scroll Anniversary edition I got this week is great, really looks the part and is a great value LE.

Got it to go with the forthcoming Ninja Scroll TV Series LE that comes in a metal tin with an action figure of jubei (Ithink its jubei, might be random from a selection).

Appleseed is also another Nice LE thats coming soon 2 Disc set, Metal Tin and a briaros (sp? PMSL) model/figure.

And another coming thats just packed with merch is the scrapped princess R1 releases, for a limited time each volume (reportedly) will come with a 12" model. Vol 1 is the SC herself :)

LMAO Neeeed more shelf space

~Divine~Wind~ the reason i'll be getting the UK releases apart from those with the tins is because I want to show some support for MVM who have the UK licence.
It should be 3 tins if memory serves as the series is 52 episodes across 13 volumes (4 episodes a disc).

For any Fruits Basket fans out there, apparently Funimation are going to do their best to show that there is enough fan support for a second series and are going to be trying to pursuade the Japanese creators that it is worth doing it (from what I was reading on AOD apparently despite low sales figures originally*, it's been one of their best selling releases, and the Manga is doing great).

P.S.
I'm going to have to move this to entertainment soon (probably the next few days), so if you can't see it in here, look in there :)

*People were giving it a miss due to it's higher price point than normal ($40 rather than $30), despite the fact that each disc had 6+ episodes, so it was actually cheaper than many series with a $30 rrp (which often had 3-4 episodes per disc).

re fruits basket, i get the impression that if it does go ahead (and it sounds like Funi are serious about trying their best), i suspect it wouldn't be for at least another year.

re gants, apparently we should be getting it here, and most likely on the R4 disc count (4 episodes per disk), so it might be worth hodling off, as it's entirely possible that after shipping costs etc the R4 or R2UK release may be cheaper than the R1  (now there is something unusual:D)

Anybody heard of an Anime called "Firefly graveyard"?
It's referenced in a book I've just finished and I was looking to watch it but it only gives three or four relevant hits on google!
It's supposed to be about the incendiary bombing on tokyo I believe.

try "Grave of the Fireflies".
It's available in the U.K. and in the U.S. on DVD, and one of a very small number of DVD's that I own that whilst I thought it was very good, hasn't been in my player since I first watched it (it's one that had me almost in tears throughout).

It is indeed about the firebombing of Japan at the end of WW2, and right from the first scene you know that the two main characters will both die, with the result that the whole thing seems that much sadder :(

I would definately recommend it if you want something a lot more serious than the average anime.

Grave of the Fireflies maybe ?

Tis a ghibli film.

I have noticed a few LE vol1 boxes appearing over here in the likes of HMV/MVC

Re: FMA
If the R2's have nothing over the R1s the due to the price I'll be sticking to R1's.
I mean C'mon £9.50 for the US ones or most probs about £16-20 for the UK :(

Gantz looked interesting but didnt know it was only 2 eps per disc, thats a bit cack, whats the run time ?

EDIT: Beaten to it :p

it's almost certainly Grave of the Fireflies from the info given :)

Re Gantz, i think they are standard episodes (24-26 minutes each), but apparently the Japanese licence holders didn't want the R1 to have more episodes per disc than the R2 Japanese release for one reason or another :(
The Madman R4 release will apparently have a more normal episode count, I guess the Japanese aren't so worried about people importing the PAL discs into Japan (adversly affecting the sales of the Japanese version), unlike the NTSC R1's.

In that case I would suggest people go for the Gantz manga instead.
its a different type of story and action so its appealing to me.
I is the best manga/comic I've ever seen bar none. The way it goes about killing main characters is excelent and refreshing - though appears to be about to sell out, though not on the scale of the recent My Hime. [/prays]
anyone thinking of getting the recently released Dominion Tank Police UK DVD, don't.
Wasnt this on one of the satelite channels a while back? I managed 5 minutes of it before turning over. Not my cup of tea - like they gave the producers job to a pre teen.
What are your thouhts on Star Ocean EX, Scrapped Princess, & UltraManiac Magical Girl
Buying Star Ocean from a shop (hypothetically in the uk) would be more embarasing than getting pr0n (is that word ok on these forums?) over the counter. Not exactly in line with most of your other shounen anime choices on your list.

Scrapped princes is worth a watch. Medieval Fantesy turning a touch sci fi later on.

OMG my mate bought in the uncut version of Urotsukidoji 4 today just got round to watching it  :( i was shocked at just how graphic it was, imean i'd seen some hentai before but... damn

erm hentai, that's a hard one but my gut feeling is only in the most general terms.
Basically play it safe, what has been mentioned so far is ok, but I wouldn't like it to get much more detailed (in theory the boards are meant to be kept to a level that is ok for kids).

aye play it safe, as long as only "we" know what it is then thats ok no need for disturbing detail etc.

anyways as a n00b who never gets the plot of things (i find metropolis hard to understand)

what stuff is in the bag for me, i did try to read the thread but im uber impatient and only got a few pages in. :o

if you want good easy to follow action stuff then probably

Macross Plus (I seem to recommend it a lot;)) - sci-fi wth some similarities to Top Gun (test pilots, action, some romance etc),

Cowboy Bebop the Movie - sci-fi, action, comedy. Imagine a bunch of fairly soft hearted bounty hunters (really too nice for the job) in an old space ship roughly the equivilent to an old pickup truck :)
pretty stylish with some great music.

Gunsmith Cats, action/comedy

Perfect Blue - possibly, it's a thriller type thing about a young pop idol trying to break into acting and a solo career.

Just 4 suggestions out of many, all should be available pretty cheaply from online U.K. retailers, and if not in the U.K. then the U.S. or Australia, and all are single discs, or cheap sets (in the case of Macross Plus).
