Guys,

Need some help.

I'm seriously getting into Shaman King on Jetix at the mo & was just wondering if you knew if it was available on DVD yet?

Now I know its a bit kiddy but I just find it totally enjoyable, there's just something about it.

Any help appreciated :D

Neil

Oh my I feel so weird posting here. I knew anime was a big thing but I thought people here only watched DVD dubbed versions. It's a bit of a shock to me.

As for Shaman King I would suggest it, even though the Jetix version is cut and the names have been changed as well as the plot changed it still got a lot of laughs. I liked it, even when I watched the first two episodes in Japanese I still thought the Jetix version was not as bad as other dubs.

The manga is also very good, I'm currently in love with the art and plot. Even though I would think the plots in both the manga and anime would be the same there is a slight difference as some characters are introduced early and others killed even (no names).

Ahhh Full Metal Alchemist brings back such great moment since I started watching it. I remember even a little how I disliked it when I first started due to my fear or gore and loosing limbs (don't mind headless though) but after I got back in I was hooked. The characters were great Scar still being one of my favourites I felt sorry for him at the end even more than I did for Nina would died the worst way possible in my opinion. If I remember correctly there's going to be a movie in the summer, a few pictures of characters have been released one of my friends who also was hooked as been researching information on it for the last week (instead of he's revision).

Like Shaman King FMA also has a manga most people say it isn't as good as the anime but I disargee and consider them both to be in different leagues both holding first place. I art isn't as detailed but it's different in such a way that some details don't matter.

Ok I've said far too much but before I go I have to tell everyone about the anime Eurika 7 it's a mecha anime produced by Bones (the makers of FMA). It's stilling the fan sub stages but I'm impressed and the animation if great reminds me of FMA's without being too mecha focused.

it looks like it's avaialble on DVD in the states, but i can't see it on DVD in the UK :)

Thanks for that Werewolf, just ordered the first 2 volumes from Boxoffice :D

Also does anyone know how many episodes Initial D comprises of in total?
Only I'm thinking about starting my collection & I'm just curious to find out how many DVD's I'm looking at having to get for the complete collection...looks like its going to be a lot

Thanks again,

Neil

I googled "Alchemy" after finished watching FMA. :D I've got to say they've got the best characters in an anime ever. (although i've only seen about 6 different anime)

Ok, Just read about 4 pages of posts, a tad behind in my life, and I noticed about 2 pages back Gunsmith Cats was mentioned. Having seen and liked the anime I was thinking about getting the manga, but on the publishers web site, I think, it mentions it is more mature than the anime. Anybody know if that is reference to the plot or the comedy side of things. More mature comedy is good, but I don’t think I could face a mature plot after a hard day.

Failing that any suggestions for a good light hearted manga series. I had the (mis)fortune to have to spend a week in London recently and am down for a return visit and need something light hearted to read after a day of stress.

Had all of the FMP mangas with me last time and they got read front to back at least three times during the week. Although I was getting some very strange looks from people, not sure if it was the fact you appear to be reading backwards or that I was grinning my little head off in the process. All in all I am really looking towards Fuffumo (or however you spell it) now. The 10th should be a good day with both that and Appleseed being released in the states.

I think the manga of gunsmith cats has a bit more violence and possbly some more adult humour etc? (I know it's meant to go into May's background which involved some form of drugs if memory serves).
I'm going to have to look into it sometime, although i've been saying that to myself for years :)

I'm currently waiting for my copy of Fumuffo + box to ship as DVDPacfic haven't got it in yet, but I do have my copy of Elfen Lied + box, and GITS:SAC 6 (LE) which arrived this morning (they were posted last week), so I'm looking forward to watching them in the next few days.

Violence and adult humour are not a problem in any way shape or form, things that go bang and cars personally for me, its just that I am trying to avoid complex plots. If I wanted those I would take eva with me.

Thanks you for reminding me, need to order GITS: SAC 6, no urgent hurry though got all of the eva platinum dvd's to watch and the films as well. So so tempting to sit down at the weekend with a drink in one hand, pile of snacks on the floor and remote in the other and watch them all in one big go. By the time I get towards the slightly heavier stuff at the end I ought to be in a fairly receptive state :D .

On top of that just received Boogiepop Phantom box set from rightstuff, the last of the whr dvd's, so need to watch all of them as well and have all of the released ROD TV dvd's on order. So much viewing, so little time :) . Since I became unemployed/freelance I seem to have so little viewing time compared to when I was working 40-50 hours a week, figure that one out  .

By the way I thought GITS 6 was to be released on the 15th in the states?

it is, but DVDPacific like a lot of the U.S. online DVD retailers tends to send them out early if they get the stock early* :)
I don't think ADV and the like make a fuss if the street date is broken with their anime titles.

*it's not uncommon in the least to get shipping confirmation about 2 weeks before the release date.

Guys,

Does anyone know if Flame of Recca has been picked up by an Anime House for official release??

Looks like it could be a good series from what I've read.

just watched this remastered a few days ago and must say i was disapointed ,after all the `hype` i was expecting more somehow. :(
the sory seemed to miss out out on continuity i thought.the main `hero` was thrust in to the eva without any preamble/sory background and then .....he was in class.....WTF etc.
just my thoughts on this, was good quality though, still gotta watch the ova`s
death and rebirth and end of evangileon yet though

thats the most confusing and best thing about eva is the story, how the thing is edited a lot of the scenes however unrelavent have deep sugnifcance to the plot and the other charcters its really not that obvoius at first sight but once youve wacthed it around 50 times you get it :p  (i'll get my coat)

might watch it again sometime ....maybe
well i guess when you consider eva to the most important piece of cinema ever i get to wacthit a few times, yeh   :D
