@Andarial.

Finished M-S volume 30 this morning. Nice little story which answers what Sachiko was studying for in secret in the previous novel. Usual levels of misunderstanding and reconciliations throughout and overall it felt to me like an OVA episode. In fact if they did make a "OVA series" 5, in the same manner as series 3, the ending of this would probably make a nice final episode
Haven`t got around to reading it yet:o Still got quite a few more to look forward to,if they ever do translate them that is :(
Still looking for the movie or DVD
Finished watching my Blu rays of Heroic Age last night:)
TGWLTT Blu ray next i think :D

Erk. Just watched the kowarekake no orgel ova. Wasn't til I after it hit credits it sunk in. If that had got a full series it probably would have really got me :(

Pretty sad especially seeing the sunflower at the end of the credits. Impressive for a thirty minute film.

I suspect we'll get more eventually :) ... but I have news on the DVD/BD release (in Japan at least). The movie will be released on DVD and BD on the 29th July (source) I think it may be implying that it will be available for pre-order from 28th April (but from the construction of the site I can't run it through Google translate) ... I don't see it up for pre-order anywhere yet though. I'd say the chances of it being subbed at release on disk are 0%, but once there's a media release out there ...

I loved the OVA, it was just so touching near the end. It's pity that the JP BD release doesn't have subtitles, (although the story isn't exactly hard to follow). One of the hard copy extras with the BD is a copy of the picture diary created by one of the characters ... which once you've seen the OVA is sad to look at in it's own right.

I've not been watching much anime so far this week, although I did watch the third episode of Hanasaku Iroha which I thought was good. Instead I've been watching some live action Japanese stuff instead. Normal service will resume after tomorrow though as I'm off then until after the May bank holiday :)

Yeah I can imagine the diary being touching. As I say, I think its when the credits roll, and you realise where it's all gone and that last scene sinks in, thats the sadness hits.

Made a definate change to DC and GITS2.0 in it's execution that's for sure. (although Angel Beats also has it's sadder moments...shame it didn't get a full 24 as it probably could have gone down as a great if it'd had the time)

Well, I didn't expect that DHL would be delivering on a bank holiday (and a Google had indicated that that was the case as well) but a bright yellow van did just drop a package with Clannad AS in it :D

edit:
It's been announced that the UK release of the second NGE movie has been delayed to 20/6 (due to a delay in getting the masters)

I'm posting in here because I couldn't find a better spot, but does anyone know of any good sites that sell the Gundam model kits? Went to Japan last year and a friend got me started on them and now I want MOAR! :Pp

From memory Hobby Link Japan do Gundam kits and ship internationally (and have a site in English).

Google finds a UK site called Gundam Mad which appears to sell the kits as well (not dealt with them myself so can't say more than that about them).

Just finished watching Angel Beats (thanks Alexrose1uk) and I have to agree with people, shame about the length of it. I must say I enjoyed the 1st OVA too, certainly got some laughter out of me! I do hate endings like that, I was left wanting more from the story.

Am I right saying that Yuri liked Otonashi towards the end? I really do think they had plenty of material available to have made it 24 episode long.

Anyone else watching Nichijou? I'm finding it ok, watchable but it isn't really drawing me in at all.

Yep AB was definately a series with potential that could have been a great if it'd got 24. Ultimately Yuri was somewhat up to the viewer, there wasn't the time to play with, and kanade was extremely sweet anyway.

Really liked the soundtrack too as did my brother who just watched it.

It's sending me to sleep ... literally ... every time I try and watch it I wake up a bit later. Give me Azumanga Daioh or Lucky Star over it any day.

I prefer the K-ON! soundtracks over Angel Beats although I have pre-ordered the new US BD release of the latter :)

Today I have been mostly watching ....

Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (HK BD release) ... I thought that this was absolutely excellent, (although it should be noted that it would be very hard not to be excellent when it had adult Asahina in it). I wasn't quite sure what to expect as I haven't got around to reading the novel yet so my only knowledge of the film was from the trailers but I was not disappointed at all. Good (long) film with a typical MoHS plot which, whilst new, ties in with events from the series. Be interesting to see what we get next.

And the first volume of Bandai's DVD release of The Girl Who Leapt Through Space. Like this series an awful lot, very fast paced sci-fi comedy/drama which picks you up and drags you along ... some fanservice but mostly just fun. It's just a pity Bandai aren't putting it out on BD.

Haven't seen Lucky Star but yes I much prefer Azumanga Daioh to Nichijou. Going to watch the 3rd ep tonight so will see if it is any better.

I also watched the disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, was a long one to watch but I felt it really got me back into the story as I had started to waiver towards the end of the anime series.

Think I'd like The Girl Who Leapt Through Space? From a quick look it sounds interesting. On a side note I can't believe how many different animes I have now watched in a short time. All from randomly watching some of Azumanga Daioh on youtube. :p

If you like fast paced sci-fi, with a bit of comedy, a bit of drama and a series which looks good and drags you along then yes, you may well like it ...

The thing to remember at this stage is that there are a lot of different anime genres so there are a lot of different things you can take a look at. You are very lucky really given how much the cost of anime has dropped in the last few years!

...

Today I have been mostly finishing watching Tower of Druaga, (the Funi complete collection release which includes both series). Now I assume that you can get more out of this if you know the games ... not being a gamer that side is lost on me. What is left ... well a fantasy series which is ok, passable but not great. Some of the characters are interesting but the plot does tend to become a bit meh at times which does make it a bit difficult to keep focused at times. It's all right and if you like swords and sorcery it's worth a watch but if that's not already your sort of thing then I say it would be best to give it a miss.

The other thing I watched today is not anime but is related. It was the HK BD release of the first Nodame Cantabile movie ... looked good, subtitles were reasonable and if you already like the series' then this is well worth a look .... I'll probably give the second film a watch tomorrow :)
