Doesn't look good for the UK release of Haruhi S2; looks like it has the same sort of issue as the US release ....
I think Bandai were replacing the R1 disks for ones with proper stereo audio if you raised a call with them but it sounds like Manga will have problems doing that.

Now it looks like the UK release of Haruhi S2 has mono Japanese audio as well.
You'd think with all that warning, all that fan ruckus in America, that Manga would pay attention to this when it came to releasing it in the UK.
Of course they didn't.
I've had a look at the one of the check discs (got them this weekend) and and we have glorious DD 2.0 mono Japanese, as well as DD 2.0 stereo English.
Now I reiterate, I only checked disc 1. My heart wasn't up to checking the other two discs and the Haruhi-chan disc just yet. But listening to a couple of episodes in Japanese, the audio stayed dead centre throughout.
Not trusting my ears, I ripped the audio for the opening sequence of episode 3 and had a look at it on a time amplitude graph for both channels.
The English had different graphs for both channels indicating stereo. The Japanese audio had identical graphs for both Left and Right.
Which means that as they sourced the transfers from Australia, no one there noticed. Certainly no one on the Madboards complained about the audio when I was checking a few months back when the Bandai kerfuffle erupted.
This also means that Manga is screwed. The UK discs are native PAL as is the case for most Australian anime releases. The discs have 4% PAL speed-up (and pitch corrected audio most probably.) They can't just go to R1 and Bandai and ask for the correct Japanese stereo track, as that just won't fit. They need the correctly timed track from Australia, and if no one has noticed there, it may not exist.
If anyone else has the Haruhi check discs, could you double check for me, and make sure I'm not making an ass of myself? Please?
EDIT: First thing I did was e-mail Jerome at Manga about it and I just got a reply, confirming that they are using Madman's DLTs and that there is very little chance of fixing it before the release date.
