Very ouch :(
Hopefully it's reasonably well insured, not that that will help with the lost sales though :(

I just checked my Rightstuf orders and it looks like Spice and Wolf S2 LE is shipping :D
Unfortunately I'm going to have to give TRSI a ring as for some reason my mastercard isn't letting the transaction go through:p

Hopefully the S&W S2 release looks better than the S1 BD release ... I've seen reports that the image quality on that is pretty poor.

Well if you've bought the UK BD release of part 1 of XAM'D then ... well bad news, MangaUK have announced, vai twitter, that they are cancelling the BD release of part 2 due to the sales of part 1.

FMA:B all over again ...

There's a reason why it hasn't sold (ignoring the economy), most people are now becoming wise enough to wait for the full sets instead of buying in 2 discs as it's usually half the cost....doesn't help with them cancelling fma either so people are more cautious.

It would make more sense for them to just release straight off as a 'box' set at £40 when it's an older series but then I'm not running MangaUK lol

Apparently they sold ~100 copies in 3 weeks ...

I think in the UK market they do really need to look at doing full series sets (particularly with the reputation they are getting) but the trouble then is that they release so long after the US that most people have imported anyway ...

This is the reason i no longer buy part sets or single disc of a set :)
I was faithfully buying the dvd of Full moon every time it came out. Then all of a sudden nada for months :(.
As far as i know Viz have still made no explanation after x years of waiting
With customer service like this it is no wonder people go elsewhere ;)

That's pretty poor, mind you, I think I was one of the only 20 or so people to buy FMA:B on blu in the first couple of weeks.

I think as you say part of it is that they are so far behind the US that a lot of people will import combined with the relatively small number of people who have more than one blu-ray player (IE one in the bedroom etc), but also the uncertainty of their cancelling the blu-ray version isn't helping.
I was tempted by X'am but after Brotherhood held off.

On brighter news (at least for me), I've got Utena set 2, and the newer Bubblegum Crisis (original OVA's) set sat next to me, they arrived around 10am :)

I'm not sure if I should drop Chobits for a while and watch Utena, or try and rush through my Chii fix to make way for revolutionary girls, and hurricane rocking ;)

I only noticed it was available yesterday which goes to show just how much marketing they did lol

If they're only releasing one box set then they can bring their schedule up so it's closer and not everyone wants imports :)

Does make me worry over things like birdy which I assume are coming from the same company.... but I'm easy I'll wait and see what happens, if both seasons come out I'll just get them together :)

My Utena set 2 is probably in the mail room at work, they just haven't bothered to tell me ... means I won't get it to next week now though. :(

Heads up for people, the Akira bluray/DVD collectors steel book is being sold for £9.99 delivered. Not sure whether I can link to it though.

Actually my post above is now not true :) ... my Utena set 2 is currently ~6in from me on my desk at work :)

My Maria-sama live action movie boxset turned up, via parcel force, at 07:20 this morning which meant I could go into work and pick up Utena :) (Haven't opened up M-S yet but the outer box looks good and is massive)

Interesting, apparently the November Japanese release of Makoto Shinkai's Children who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below is due to have English subtitles on its BD and DVD releases.

Ok, this evening I finished re-watching Angelic Layer. Nice Clamp series with a reasonably straight forward story line, if a little far fetched, all the way through. Gets a bit emotional at times but is a nice series with good characters. If the technology was around it would have made a good toy tie-in but it's a bit advanced for the real world :)

The other thing I watched this evening was Maria-sama ga Miteru - The Movie. This is the live action adaptation of the story, (which has been told in ~36 light novel volumes, a manga version and 4 anime series). The film covers the first arc which is how the main characters "meet" and become "involved" ... this is equivalent to the first three episodes of the anime!

I received the film this morning ... and it's a rather big box being roughly 1ft*1ft*3in and decorated with pictures of Yumi in the style used for the light novels. In the box you get 1*BD, 1*DVD, a double sided poster (one side is the characters lined up and the other messages from the principle actors/actresses (which were also in the film book available separately) and a medium sized micro-fibre towel, again of Yumi in the same style as the box. I also got three drawn Yumi postcards as an external bonus due to the store I ordered the set from. This is the deluke limited edition release.

The film is on both the DVD and the BD but the extras across the disks are different. The BD has things like chibli animated "things not to do in the cinema" shorts (which are amusing), trailers for the film and things on the actresses learning the waltz, whilst the DVD has footage from live events, behind the scenes footage with interviews and has a commentary track on the film.

The film itself. Right it should be noted that there are no subs at all in this release. The only English is the top level of the menu on the BD. Hence to follow whats happening you need to know the story ... preferably from watching the anime, reading the first few novels and possibly the manga as there are variations between these media and the film does make some changes as well. Knowing some Japanese phrases helps a lot, particularly with some of the changes (for instance it seems that Yoko tells Yumi about why Sachiko doesn't like men instead of Sei in the film but you can work out that that is what they are talking about). There are also other changes in locations where things happen but the changes are mostly minor overall. The standard of acting was ok ... these are mostly models apparently instead of actors so I've seen a lot better acting but it's good enough that you can follow what is going on. Some of the camera work is a bit poor at times (e.g. the first scene with everyone in the Rose Mansion meeting room has poor light balance) but generally it is acceptable.

I enjoyed the film. I would like to see it with proper subs (chances of that happening I would say are pretty low) as it would lower the concentration needed to watch something where you are constantly mentally comparing with the other versions. It's not as good as the live action film of Kimi ni Todoke but if you like the series then it's worth a watch.

really not quite sure what to think about how death note is being played out now..on episode 30 and i really don't like the route theyv taken :( I really enjoyed the first 25ish episodes, but maybe it will get better.
