really not quite sure what to think about how death note is being played out now..on episode 30 and i really don't like the route theyv taken :( I really enjoyed the first 25ish episodes, but maybe it will get better.

Yeah general concensus is around half-way through the series, or basically when you say goodbye to L, it just doesn't feel the same any more. Some of the scenarios just feel a little bit too far-fetched and more over-the-top.

Death note, mint series but they shot themselves in the foot with the horrible ending. They just done a u turn on how smart he was and made it so well u know what happens in it.

Not really. I mean Light did became far too arrogant and corrupted over the years, which lead to his biggest mistake and downfall by letting other people in i.e. Mikami.

Besides, his manga death shows him as even more pathetic.

Thanks for the review of Maria Sama andi :)
Shame about no subs.Hopefully that will be fixed quite soon ;).My grasp of Japanese is poor even though i know the story,it would be too much effort to watch with no subs for me :(
Out of curiosity which came first the manga or the light novels?I mean the author/creator wrote/drew manga first or wrote written stories first

Watched Redline and its prequel(kinda)Trava:Fist Planet last night .Different animation style to the usual...bit primitive fir my tastes .Plenty of action, fast cars etc in Redline, think Wacky races on a high tech planet :D.

I'm pretty certain that the manga adaptation came quite a while after the light novels.

Checks wiki ... light novels started coming out in '98 whilst the manga was 8 volumes from '03-'07. All started as a short story published in a magazine in '97. 38 volumes of the novels are out.

Saw Redline at the cinema last year, it was amazing! :) The animation style and the devil-may-care characters reminded me a lot of Bebop, and watching it on a big screen with the music booming was some brain-frizzingly awesome sensory overload!:D

Well lately I have been watching Baka to Test, which I am now onto the 2nd series. Not a bad anime but I'd only say it is average.

Past few days been also watching kimikiss pure rouge. Anyone else seen it? I'm surprised how much I am liking the series, so much so is there anything else out there like it? Already seen Amagami SS (and yes I have also seen a 2nd series is coming for it).

Anyone else seen the info on where the K-On film is based? It surprised me, I won't say just in case some people don't want to know!

I saw Kimi Kiss when it originally aired and have the DVD release ... It's ok, but very, very average ... Amagami season 1 was quite a lot better in my opinion (and the Kimi Kiss manga is worse than the Anime)

I have seen what the K-On film is going to include location wise and I thought that that was pretty much as expected. We knew what it was going to involve and that there was a very good chance it was going to be there.

I honestly prefer Kimikiss over Amagami SS, I am not sure whether I got on well with the many short stories that Amagami involved.

I must have missed some stuff from K-On then as I didn't see it coming. :p

It isn't really many short stories though, it is a two cour series so even with the six arcs each one is still lasting four episodes (plus you have two other episodes on top of that) which gives a reasonable time period for each arc to come together.

Anyway .... watched the second set of Utena earlier. I'm really trying to like the series but it is proving quite difficult. Ignoring the art style, which I wouldn't say is exactly to my taste, the series just seems very repetitive at times ... small bit of plot followed by a brief "fight" which the build up tends to use the same animation each time ... and the fights themselves are quite repetitive in style and content.

Latest Iroha was a nice end to the school festival arc though.

edit:
Interesting bit of info; Hoshi o Ou Kodomo (Children who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below), which is due out in November, is going to have English subtitles on it's Japanese DVD and BD releases. Finally a Makoto Shinkai release on BD with subtitles!

Hi again everyone :)

Heard the news (it was pretty well aired) on the riots...sad state of affairs, and shame Beez got caught in it :(

Whilst I was away didn't get through everything I took (which is a good thing), did manage to read Spice and Wolf vol 4 though which was great; really good book actually and had a moment that tensed me up similar to the whole Amarti arc from Book3/Season 2. Great stuff :)

Also got about 9 episodes into Tonagura in the evenings. Nice little series, not amazingly big or a classic, but reasonably well contained light comedy drama so far. Perfect for light watching whilst away.

@Robgnum - I've enjoyed what I saw of Shana largely, although I prefered S2. I also absolutely hate the professor character as I just find he feels 'off' with the rest of the material and characters.

I finished watching Bebop and saw the film.

Really enjoyed it in the end, the episodes got so much better and it even got a bit emotional towards the end. That one with the theme park in was incredibly creepy!

The film was good, but for some reason I preferred the series more.

Love that theme tune! :D

Bebop towards the end is a little more emotional than you'd think from the bulk of the series :)
The film would probably have been a fairly decent couple of episodes, but possibly not so much as a film (although it's been a long time since I've seen it).

I'm slowly creating chaos out of order, erm order out of chaos:p
I almost know where everything is in my collection now, and this time I'm updating DVD profiler and noting it down as I go :) (I've got a few more dupe discs, but they are mainly ones that the other sets are missing things from*).

It looks like I'm going to start on Utena set two tonight, as I'm nearly at the end of Chobits (which is still good fun).

*For example I've got the Irresponsible Captain Tylor ultimate/limited editions, and the later remastered version - but the ultimates have a nicer box and a book each.

As a random aside, a second season of Amigami SS has been greenlit. Wonder if it'll be more stories, or flesh out/continue some of the old arcs, as one or two could do with a continuation of some kind.

Utena set 3 is supposedly going up for pre-order on Wednesday (according to the press release). Be interesting to see when it's going to be released.

Currently nearly at the end of Witchblade which I am finding better than I thought I would.

It's only 12 episodes so can be knocked out in 3hrs~

Not unless you can manipulate time as an average episode (minus OP, ED and preview) is around 22.5 minutes so that over 4 hours for 12 episodes.

@Alex, I don't know about Amagami season 2 ... there's supposedly a couple of arcs from the game which weren't covered which could possibly make a single core season but I would personally prefer something slightly longer.

Hahah yea I could see how that could happen. Season one is Books 1+2, Season two is Books 3+5. As I mentioned to Andi a few weeks ago, S2 is quite a different beast in some ways to S1, so you may or may not like it, but it IS very good. Season 2 doesn't really have an ending, but it has more of a closure in some senses than S1. Me and plenty of others would love some OVAs or more seasons though to cover more of the books.

Make sure you watch the EP00 of S2 (OVA), its adorable, and also canon as I understand. I've got the actual JP DVD of it as it came as an extra with one of the 'extra' books which I was gifted :)

@andi - I didn't mind Witchblade for what it was, wasn't massively won over by the ending, but it's not a terrible series.
One thing, in a slightly geeky manner, I found interesting was that it's actually semi-based in the same universe as 'The Darkness' games out a few years ago.
