The AMD Driver Thread

hope it wont be too long before we get an updated witcher 3 profile. It gets good scaling with AA turned off but the flickering destroys it for me.

Sooooo.... Matt any word on Witcher 3 flickering bug, is this being looked into now, should be in next driver release or is that an issue with cd projeck ?

No further update from the below kevy.

We're working with the developer to resolve that, Matson. Most likely to be fixed in a future game update, or perhaps a future Catalyst driver. :)

Any idea why project cars isn't working in crossfire for me? Its working for others but im getting negative scaling when I use it which is a shame as it bogs down to about 40-45fps when it starts raining for me. Iv hardly touched the game since release because of this.

Can you post your settings Matson? I have a 7990 so i can try to mimic it myself, thanks.

Hi Matt, do you have any idea about this GTA5 issue?

I have been playing for a week with most highest setting and didnt use MSAA due to artifacts.
Then last night I was a bit bored so I played with setting and try to set MSAA x 4
Then it crash to desktop straightaway and from that time I cant play the game anymore.
When it is loading to the storymode for 10 seconds then crush to desktop saying gta5.exe not responding etc

I can only get into the game from safe mode, I dont know what to do...

My hardware / driver shouldnt be a problem because I was able to play it

I've seen GTA V game files corrupt before, so my recommendation would be to Verify Local Cache Files on steam to see if something got corrupted!

Anyone else finding that Crossfire is not working in Tomb Raider 2013? Only way for me to get it working again is forcing AFR friendly.

Benny please check you have Full Screen and Exclusive Full Screen selected, otherwise CrossFire will not work.

Does anyone know to stop the blood splatter flickering in Dying Light when Crossfire is enabled? I've tried disabling AA in-game but it didn't help.

Looking into this.

I have done that already but no hope yet...
Because I saw it on AMD.com saying they are working with Rocketstar on the MSAA setting, maybe this MSAA setting ruined the save?

The MSAA issue is known and can be solved by disabling AA so it won't cause corrupt files. I wonder if Rockstar Social Club has anything to do with this, it's given me a few problems before.

Anyone still having the CrossFire-Vsync-EyeFinity sound crackling bug, please try this to see if it removes the crackling.

Disable the HDMI sound device from CCC or Via the Windows Control Panel > Sound.

I'd be interested to know if this fixes this issue for people that have reported this to me previously. Thanks. :)

Matt, do you know when AMD plans to release win10 drivers on their website? Windows keeps on trying to install engineering sample drivers which don't work very well.

Probably just before the Operating System is Officially launched Benny.

I was told to put this post here in the hope matt will see it:

Hi all, I previously had this setup:

Dell 30" 3008WFP via DP
2x 27" via DVI-D

And it all worked fine at the max res at 60hrz and I could play HDCP content no problems.

Now I have:

Phillips 40" via DP
Dell 30" via DVI-D
DGM 27" via DVI-D

And now all of a sudden I can't play my amazon prime video in HD - saying I dont have HDCP compliant screens

Right this second im only running the philips and dell monitor as bizarelly the DVI-D cable I used on the no longer used 27" screen won't work properly on the dell - gets garbled interlaced screen & the ONLY DVI-D cable that will work is the one that used to be in the DGM monitor..................

I have ordered a new DVI-D cable to come tomorrow for the currently unused DGM screen.......but I am assuming the Dell on the DVI-D cable isn't HDCP compliant

I am using 2x r290x graphics cards in crossfire - so the ONLY available outputs I have are:

DP
2x DVI-D
HDMI

I am aware I could disable crossfire and use 2 DP's out from them but obviously I dont want to do that.

I also tried using the HDMI out to the DELL, but it wouldnt work above 1920x1080.

I then tried DVI-D out to monitor HDMI, no go, then tried hdmi out to DVI-D on the monitor again only 1920x1080

SO - ANY IDEAS ANYONE ? doing me nut in.

Any ideas on this AMDMatt ? :(

Tried with new cables yesterday and says same thing, HDCP not detected.

Going to send you a trust message, stand by.

Well I dont know what you did Matt regards the linux driver guys but damn! What a improvement first driver since the 14.12's turned up on the 6th.

metro redux has gone from 30ish to 120
BL2 from 70 to 140+
Dying light which if you see my screenshot in a previous post was unplayable at 13fps on low at 1280 x 1024 (iirc) to a now 50ish fps @ 1440p all high :eek::eek::eek:

Admit not were windows version is but ....

Seriously what did you do????

I'm still looking for the catch.

Just doing my job Pete. You may of thought all this time i was just ignoring your requests/questions, but i was making sure they were heard - where it counts. ;)

Thats some crazy performance boost.. Well done AMD!

Hey Matt, might be a slightly trickier one, but I could not for the life of me get Ass Creed IV: Pirates of the Caribbean Edition to work in 5760x1080p using 290x crossfire. Even when I use Flawless Widescreen or Widescreen Fixer and select that resolution in the game settings it still only loaded the middle screen, the two side screens going black.

Not sure what's going on there, since I've seen videos of the game running in eyefinity with crossfire settings.

Will look into it.

Matt, on the latest Win10 AMD drivers Mantle doesn't seem to work at all. You able to check if it's working for you or another AMD peep?

I don't have it installed I'm afraid so cannot check. However once the operating system is ready for release we'll have official drivers ready. I'll pass on your feedback though, thanks. :)

Hello AMD Bods!

Thought you GTA V peeps might be interested in this from the release nots from R*

Fixed an issue where certain combinations of anti-aliasing settings on CrossFire systems could cause graphical corruption

Happy Wednesday!

Good news, no need for a Catalyst Driver update folks.

As for Flickering seen in The Witcher 3 with MSAA enabled, no further update. It will be fixed in a future game update or an updated Catalyst Driver.

Great explanation for how pcars performance increased by 17% with one driver update and probably another 10-15% on the Win10 drivers....clearly Roy was talking out of his behind when he said it was all SMS's fault.

Poor effort from AMD....and instead of apologising the VP blames the devs

I was referring to the GTA V patch that has just fixed the corruption bugs seen with MSAA enabled on CrossFire setups.

· Fixed an issue where certain combinations of anti-aliasing settings on CrossFire systems could cause graphical corruption.
· Fixed a crash that occurred on certain CrossFire configurations when exporting long Rockstar Editor videos at high frame rates.
· Fixed issues with flickering effects that could be seen on some CrossFire systems.

TBF, you don't know if the AMD driver team have done a workaround/code replacement in the drivers that fix something buggy the dev team should have done themselves.

We had performance optimisations in the Beta build of the game that worked well. Once the final build released these optimisations no longer worked, for whatever reason. Not blaming the devs here, but either way we corrected it so our optimisations now work as they did in the beta build.

For the GTA V issue there was nothing we could do as it was a game issue so we had to wait patiently for the game patch. :)

Please Welcome The New AMD UK Community Manager

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that I’m starting a new job within AMD and from Monday the 15th of June, I will no longer be the AMD UK Community Manager.

With that in mind I wanted to formally introduce you all to the new AMD UK Community Manager, Joe Cowell! Joe is a PC gamer and all round good guy, Joe will be the official AMD voice on the forums.

I will continue to be a member of the Overclockers forums, however I will now be spending more of my time helping customers at the Official AMD Forums. If you have any technical questions, please reach out to me Via @AMDCare or Via The Official AMD Support Forums.

Joe will not be providing tech/customer support, so please do make use of the @AMDCare and AMD customer support forums if you have any technical or customer care questions.

Please welcome Joe to Overclockers!

Thanks for the support and kinds words chaps, was nice reading some of that. (for a change :p :p)

I'll be going by the same name in the AMD forums as i use here, so should be easy to spot. I'm going to put a lot of effort into getting the AMD Forums up to scratch, we know there's work to do.

I'll leave Joe to introduce himself and explain his responsibilities here, I expect he'll be along to post shortly, it's 7am after all and I'm an early bird. :)
