The AMD Driver Thread

Vsync can be off. There’s no need to have enhanced sync on if you are capping FPS below the refresh rate of your display. Enhanced sync is only worthwhile for 144 FPS or higher, eg when playing with an uncapped frame rate and FPS are above your max refresh rate.

I would disable it and set the max FPS to 3 below your refresh rate, so 141. This will ensure you always stay in the Freesync range, as setting it to 143/144 may mean that you occasionally fall out of the range.

The original question sounded like BF2042 was not supported (not working) until AMD did something about it. I think AMD's use of the word in their release notes instills a false sense of needing drivers which is misleading.

If the question was more about performance optimisation, it's possible to search AMD's site across the release notes to answer that. The only hit I could see was regarding 'support' for the Beta in https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-21-10-1
You can blame 'game ready' drivers for that to be fair.

BF2042 will work just fine on the latest driver.

@LtMatt
Does enhanced sync work at low fps for tearing like under my fs range of 48-75? I want to not use x4 ingame vsync but i get tearing badly when its around 30-40 on stations. I think i tried esync but i dont remember if it helped stop it. I kinda wanted to try amd vsync forced on, once in drivers, and turn off vsync ingame but that didnt work. I just want tear free without using ingame vsync as it bogs the fps a lot to me.
No, only at or over the refresh rate of the display.

If your monitor supports LFC then the frame is doubled if the FPS drops below the Freesync range. Unless your monitor is quite old, then You need a Freesync premium or premium pro monitor to support LFC.

Halo Infinite™
  • Up to 17% increase in performance in Halo Infinite @ 4K Ultra Settings, using Radeon™ Software Adrenalin 21.12.1 on the 16 GB Radeon™ RX 6900 XT graphics card, versus the previous software driver version 21.11.3.RS-434
  • Up to 19% increase in performance in Halo Infinite @ 4K Ultra Settings, using Radeon™ Software Adrenalin 21.12.1 on the 16 GB Radeon™ RX 6800 XT graphics card, versus the previous software driver version 21.11.3.RS-435
  • Up to 16% increase in performance in Halo Infinite @ 4K Ultra Settings, using Radeon™ Software Adrenalin 21.12.1 on the 12 GB Radeon™ RX 6700 XT graphics card, versus the previous software driver version 21.11.3.RS-436
  • Fortnite™
  • Icarus™
  • Blender 3.0™ on Radeon™ RX 6000 series Graphics.

Fixed Issues
  • While running SteamVR Home on some AMD Graphics products such as Radeon™ VII Graphics, some users may experience a crash.
  • During Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy™ gameplay, some users may experience driver timeouts on some AMD Graphics products such as Radeon™ RX 5500 XT Graphics.
  • While playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds™ with multiple displays connected in extended mode, Radeon™ Software may become unresponsive when the user is in the lobby and attempts to open Radeon Software on the secondary display via the context menu.
  • Visual corruption may be observed on a vehicle’s logo or license plate number while playing Forza Horizon 5™ on some AMD Graphics products such as Radeon™ RX 500 series Graphics.
Known Issues
  • After upgrading to the latest Radeon™ Software, the Power Tuning component of a saved tuning profile may not load correctly when a user imports a previously saved tuning profile.
  • Enhanced Sync may cause a black screen to occur when enabled on some games and system configurations. Any users who may be experiencing issues with Enhanced Sync enabled should disable it as a temporary workaround.
  • Radeon performance metrics and logging features may intermittently report extremely high and incorrect memory clock values.

Ah ok so I'll need to to reinstall.

I usually DDU but I'll try again, thanks.

Edit. Tried DDU and reinstall. Still having the same issue.

Edit 2: turns out running dual monitors like i have (144hz and 60hz) triggers the max mem clock. I stopped using the 60hz monitor and it's back to idle clocks.
If that behaviour occurs with the just released driver with two displays, it’s expected.

Negative matt, maybe I'm doing something wrong but I don't see how really, I've tried making two profiles, one for general gaming and one for benchmarking.
Exported them and save them in my documents folder. They load up just fine, no failed settings, but stuff like zero fan, powerlimit or memory timings are default when go into tuning.
Not the end of the world of course, but annoying.

Windows 11 if it makes any difference, was doing it on beta drivers previously too.
Using dual boot here of 11 and 10 and don't experience this issue. If settings are not saved, it's usually due to some other application interfering.

If you have never installed Afterburner or similar then it can't be that. It does sound like a local system issue though, if only those specific settings are not saved.

I could try saving a profile for you which you can load in to your system if you like? Let me know the exact settings you want. A screenshot showing everything should do it.

try a different save location?

If loading a profile from a previous driver try remaking it from scratch based on the settings u know and do a fresh profile. If that doesnt work, try ddu and when installing fresh drivers do the factory reset stuff to clear any old settings it might still be using then redo ur new fresh profiles?
Sorted cheers chaps, already used DDU and nuked all the AMD stuff when installing the new drivers this morning, strangely, using a different location to save to worked.
Good shout SkeeterUK. :)

In the performance tab of the AMD software its telling me SAM in not available but its enabled in the bios?
GPU-Z has a tab at the top (Advanced) which should tell you if you fail to meet any of the requirements to support SAM.

Both, though the CPU metrics have returned to normal.

The fan is going mental in Plague Tale at the quit screen, temps not going above 55 though, and I have not messed with the fan curve.
Did it work previously? If so what changed.

You should be able to monitor and adjust fan speed in GPU Tuning.

Are you using a full install, or minimal? Might not be available in the latter.
  • Install Type:
    • Full Install: Provides all Radeon Software features and controls for gaming, recording, streaming, and tweaking your performance on your graphics hardware.
    • Minimal Install: Provides only the basic controls for Radeon Software features and does not include advanced features such as performance tweaking or recording and capturing content.
    • Driver Only: Provides no user interface for Radeon Software features.
Also, have you installed or used any third party software that can control these settings like MSI Afterburner, etc?

Check that you have the In-Game Overlay enabled (under Preferences) and you have not disabled the metrics (Performance tab > Metrics) which would allow monitoring of fan speeds through the UI and In-Game Overlay.

If the above is all checked off, try a factory reset and a full install.
