Alright, out of curiosity and due to the game Encased keep randomly crashing on me when I'm doing a reload so trying to make sure everything is up to date since it does it on any GPU drivers.

The link you provide there is from AMD, should anyone with a AMD motherboard use AMD's own Chipset drivers or use the Motherboard manufacture's own chipset drivers ?

Always use the Chipset drivers direct from the AMD website for desktop systems.

Alright, thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated ! And a quick follow up. The BIOS version is 8 months old, should I update that one as well ? I'm guessing yes but since I doing something new I thought I better ask an expert !

Yes I would update if you are using a Ryzen CPU.

Yes, I'm using the Ryzen 9 5900 X. Alright, I'll have a read up on how to do that and then praying all will go well !

If your BIOS is only 8 months old, I'm sure it'll be fine without updating. If your system is working well, no need to take a risk and update tbh.

Well, the only problem I been having recently is with this game Encased that keeps crashing and each time I do get the AMD crash report dialogue box, so hence doing this. But I try just with the Chipset drivers and maybe that's all that's needed.

I'm not familiar with that game so not sure if its an app or driver issue, but you could submit a bug report using the BRT.

Will I see much improvement using Sam using a r5 3600 and a 5600xt my computer was built last year and using stock bios on a mag b550 mortor mb?

Never updated a mb bios and I'm nervous about bricking it

Yes to the performance improvement, no to the board bricking due to SAM.

However, updating the BIOS is always a bit of a risk...

OK updated the latest mb bios from msi as its a mag b550 mortor do I just need update the latest chipset drivers and gpu drivers
Do I get these off the msi site or ryzen? I'll be doing a fresh install of Windows aswell

Yes and AMD site for all driver upgrades.

If using freesync and RTSS to cap framerate, should i should vsync or enhanced sync can anyone confirm?

If you cap frame rate to 2-3 FPS below your FreeSync range, you don't need enhanced sync.

Enhanced sync is only beneficial by reducing tearing and latency when you allow the FPS to exceed the monitors refresh rate.

Sorry if this has been asked before but is there a way to just show your metrics(fps etc)just in a game and not on desktop? cant for the life of me see an option and having the metrics constantly on bugs the hell out of me!

Hot keys menu, toggle overlay on and off as you desire. Cyril+Shift+O.

Also no mention of the incorrect W readout spiking with using monitoring software. So be interesting to see if it still does it.

Hi, not sure if this is the right place for this question but here goes.

Any AMD guys I redeemed a copy of Far Cry 6 with product a while back and it says I've spent the credit. I've never been sent a code to redeem and the game has not appeared in Ubisoft connect, are there additional steps to redeem the game.

Please let me know if anyone gets a black screen or your display loses signal when you enable 10 bit colour depth (Bpc in Radeon Software see attached image). If you get these symptoms in combination with HDR (either via Windows HDR option or in-game HDR option) in 21.9.1, 21.9.2, or 21.10.1 I'd like to know about it.

Nothing of that sort here. Only (very minor) issue I have with HDR on 21.9.1 is when bring up the AMD control panel while playing Star Wars: Squadrons, the everything goes bright pink (but what's being displayed is still visible) and then reverts to normal once closing the overlay.

It was fixed via a firmware update on my CX OLED, not a driver issue after all.

Nvidia owners not happy about an AMD sponsored game. Shock horror.
Like you said in that thread same thing often happens in a Nvidia sponsored game but instead of moaning about when you have an AMD card just accept it and deal with the settings.
Unfortunately in this instance its harder because Nvidia cards were released with 10/12gb and AMD cards got 16gb. (apart from the 3090) So its a hardware difference not software.

It was bound to happen the number of people who complained about the VRAM when the 3080 came out it was a ticking time bomb. Just dont get why it causes so much emotion.

(up until last year I was Nvidia for last 10 years or more going back to ATI 1800XT and had 3 Nvidia 3xxx cards before getting the 6900xt)

OMG why do I not feel the appreciation on said thread? Finally there is a person out there that understands the discussion without bringing in another game (CP'77) or deflection tactics to suit the narrative.

A mammoth thread on 3080 VRAM went on and on but there was no game to progress that discussion. Now we have a game that is more credible than Godfall to start sensible probes into why drivers/engines/games might hit issues there seems to be lots of toy out of pram syndrome from what I can tell. Being a user of both brands over the years its comical that when the 'superior' brand user is now in that position, you can see how they react...

Same old same old. If you can't attack the argument (about the value of AMDs extra VRAM), then attack the person (in this case the AMD brand). It's Nvidia marketing 101, and it's ironic that the Nvidia customer/fans will do it for Nvidia marketing even though they are the ones that have been short changed by the cut down ram on Nvidia products.

It's difficult to have a debate in that thread as it largely just comes down to trolling, one-upmanship and conspiracy theories.

Got a strange one here. I upgraded to 20.10.3 other day not played a game since. My son was using my computer playing FIFA 22 and I came up to have a look and the screen was flickering really badly like the refresh rate was wrong.
I said how can you play like that, he said I hardly noticed it. It was bad believe me.

So I kicked him off tried a few things, still doing it in other games too. Static screen fine, only when playing a game. Took it back to 20.10.2 same thing, 20.10.1 same thing. Didnt have time to check it further. Just now tried various things
cant fix it. Then I thought Freesync.... right turn it off, flickering stopped. WTH.

Anyone else had this problem ?

Strange one, try a DDU since that reset Windows monitor settings.

Better get your son to specsavers.
