2X MSAA? i used to run Texture Quality on Medium with everything else on Ultra + Low Post AA, 0 MSAA; on a 2GB card no problem, it maxed out the vRam but it was working well. just.
Oh im using 4xMSAA lol I'll try 2

No noticable difference, one card (either) will hit high 90's but two will fluctuate between say 60% - 90%.You should be getting 99% solid. If the cpu overclocking made no difference, then there is some other issue at play here.
So i just had a round on Firestorm with your settings and they seem good for VRAM usage Humbug, @ around 2GB Only problem was the smoke when theres a lot of it i get some stutter and FPS drops. Gona try these settings in a bit..

Hopefully that'll ease off the smoke lag if smoke is something to do with Effects quality.
Oh i set resolution to 104%
Been having a little potter around with Mantle on BF4 and currently have the 7970's pulling 80's avg (100+ peak) at 150% scaling, 1200/1600 with 2xAA/everything ultra except high textures due to vram chugging at full ultra/4xAA.
With those settings, it gets to about 2.8GB usage.
Frame pacing method 2 I think...

Yeah, it's not bad
Still got a little fiddling to do, as I'm not sure if it's the AA or the textures that bomb the vram after a few minutes. Limited testing so far and still need to look at the other Fp methods.
That was on shanghai btw, and it's more like 90's avg, but y'know...
I tried BF4 again yesterday with Mantle and the Frame Pacing method 1. Horrible, horrible experience.
Started off ok, decent framerates felt fine, then I upped the MSAA from 2x to 4x (everything Ultra, no Post AA) and it all went to hell. Started getting pauses as the framerate dropped to single digits, even when it wasn't pausing the framerate dropped low enough the in-game OSD FPS display went red. Turned the MSAA back down to 2x and it didn't help, turned it off, no difference.
Played the same map on the same server again today using DX11 and framrates were only around 90fps but it was consistent and no pauses.
So as far as my 7950CF rig goes, I'm even less impressed with Mantle now than I was before (previously 4xMSAA just felt less smooth, now it seems to be entirely unplayable).
To be fair I've not even tried the 290s with Mantle, they're still on the 13.12 drivers.
Trouble is they're reference cards so even at idle with 20% fan they're just so noisy I can' bring myself to use the PC (it doesn't help that the 290s are probably the most disappointing graphics card I've bought in a while). I'm waiting on some XSPC rotary angle fittings to come into stock and then I'll be able to build my waterloop.
From what I know Crossfire 7000 series and Mantle isn't ready yet to lessen the head ache I would still with DX11 till amd release the driver for your setup.
Why not just use your 290's on Mantle?

Noisy at idle? I would have thought they were almost silent.
Mantle is perfect on my 290, BF4 Ultra preset.
