Likely a memory frequency change.
Might use msi afterburner to set locked 2d clocks that prevent that.
I have MSI afterburner 4.0, but where is the option for the 2D clocks.

Appreciate the work to get a new driver out, but unfortunately still have the black screen issue which I've noticed is only happening on my DVI output not my HDMI outputs. Also noticed in CCC using the HDMI connection that it cannot detect the DVI display at all but it detects it fine in 14.4
I think 14.9 is working fine for me, however mantle problems still persist in bf4 with an r9 280.
Only problem with the driver itself is i cant open CCC? Anyone else having this problem?
Regards.
Do you get a specific message when you try to open it?
None whatsoever. It just will not open.
I dont know if you can answer this, but do the mantle problems e.g stuttering/fps drops in bf4 only happen with certain amd cards like gcn 1.0 /7000 series and r9 280 remakes etc?
Regards.
erm, as i was having problem with bsod's and 14.9 was doing the refuse to install thing, when i saw 14.9.1 i thought great, downloadod and installed. the install semed to be fine.
however everything still reports the driver as actually being 14.4. is this right? also ive noticed that where the gpu used to clock down to about 300 and the ram too, now the gpu doesnt go below 450 and the ram seems stuck at 1400. is this supposed to be like this?
Okay well I have my first gaming session, however, on Fifa 15 I kept getting graphical corruption. If I can i'll send a screen shot.
However, I played Titanfall @Insane settings with crossfire enabled (Which before stuttered) as smooth as butter with over 100FPS average. @1080
However, the random flickering persists at idle clocks, can anyone please tell me how to set the 2D clocks in MSI afterburner?
I would recommend trying the following.
1. Uninstall the AMD drivers
2. Download and install the latest version of DDU
3. Run DDU, allow it to restart into safe mode.
4. In safe mode clean AMD.
5. Reinstall 14.9.1 drivers.
Does CCC open now?
Regarding Mantle, this is a little more complicated. What settings are you using in game and what resolution are you playing at? What issues are you seeing in Battlefield 4 when using Mantle?
Hopefully i'll have time to try this later on.
I play at 1080p with most settings at max, 4xmsaa.
With directx there are no major fps drops/stutters.
Mantle will work for a while fine, then after around 2 maps or so vram usage starts to creep up ( memory leak I guess) and the stutters begin. Bad fps drops from like 65 - 20 in random places. Could be action areas. Could be staring at a wall. Completely random.
Vram Usage goes up to approximately 2900mb/ 3000mb of the r9 280. With directx it stays at approximately 1700mb.
Ive also tried multiple graphical settings like medium, resolution scale instead etc etc.
Nothing works.
Regards.
Do these 14.9.1 resolve red screen crashing? My rigs been stable until these 14.9's. Been trying to play shadow of mordor on my 290 but I keep getting a lock up to red screen!
Red screen is caused by cpu and or memory timings/voltage instability. Try bumping those voltages at least two notches and see if it still occurs. I've dealt with many red screens and they've all come down to this.
Ohhhh damn. Thanks for the reply Matt. Since these latest drivers 14.9 my system has been rock solid for 3 years overclocked though?
Try lowering AA to x2 please and see if that improves the problem. I suspect that Mantle is slowly using more vram than you have available. I'm afraid at ultra settings it does use slightly more than the 3gb of vram you have available after a few rounds. This is a memory management issue that currently affects Frostbite 3.0 and Battlefield 4.
i will do. Thank you for the information. I now have a better understanding of why this seems to only effect the mid range/lower end cards running into vram issues etc.
Regards.
