Ah my mistake. Yes if you have different cards i can see different fan profiles being useful.

@Matt
Just to let you know I dont get no system hang when installing windows 8 13.8 beta 2 drivers

Must be a driver conflict somewhere then i reckon. It doesn't happen on the Mrs pc either and she has windows 8. Not sure what's causing it but as i don't need HDMI its no biggie.

Solution discovered!!

Turns out i needed to disable Windows 8 Driver Signature Enforcement. For some reason, unbeknown to man Windows 8 was saying access denied to the driver.

As soon as i disabled that and tried the driver it installed, all of it, successfully.

are these 13.8 beta anygood? was on 13.3 still, couldnt pass 3dmark11 with same settings as I had using 13.3 drivers but its a bit warmer weather today just wondered

Yes very much enjoying them. Not sure how much of a change they represent for single card users though. That said AMD drivers always seem to bring more improvements and performance so i'm always using the latest. Assuming they have no major bugs, which to be fair they rarely do.

Just nvidia users when their cards erupted in flames.

:D
Yes, many. Its a Windows 8 thing. Try running intel burn test 20 times on very high, that should let you know if its a cpu/dram voltage problem. Last red screen i had was caused by dram voltage being too low.

This is a system that's been rock solid stable on windows 7 maybe it's just a 13.8 bug I had on windows 8.
Only had it the once so far so I'll just leave it as that for now and test some more games tomorrow.

Thanks

I didn't try the first 13.8 betas but this new set seem identical in performance to 13.6. That's on a single 7970. For reference I pretty much only play Arma II MSO/DayZ/Arma III and don't benchmark.

Anyone else getting uneven gpu load with frame pacing enabled? Im getting a lot higher gpu usage than 13.6 in bf3 gpu1 65%-80ish%, gpu2 99% but still uneven so not sure if its a problem.

Splinter Cell Blacklist doesn't have a CrossFire profile, so make your own using AFR, Uplay overlay needs disabled though or the overlay gets very glitchy.

If you don't know how to create your own CrossFire profile:

1. AMD CCC>Gaming>3D Application Settings.

2. +Add... Browse to Installation Directory and add Blacklist_DX11_game.exe

3. Select AFR friendly>Save.

Use the latest beta, no reason not to.

+1, apart from lost gpu 1 usage with ulps enabled in CrossFire, the betas have been outstanding of late.

Disable ulps, gpu1 is running considerably lower than gpu 2 with ulps enabled.

Windows 8 Steam

Since using Windows 8 and Steam with driver 13.8 beta 2 now and then if I click on a game to play, it just minimizes to the taskbar and each time I click it, it does it again?

Not sure if this is a driver issue because I not tried any other's Anyone else here have same thing before?

Edit
Think I have just found out why its happening.. My new SSD Samsung Evo has software "Samsung Magician" with this running it seems to be conflicting with steam.
