** The AMD Navi Thread **

The problem is not in your setup. The problem is in AMD and its infinite incompetence.

They can't cool or even try to cool a 200-250W card with this tiny heatsink without a single heatpipe, and with an awful turbine which is not suitable for cooling so power consuming GPUs.

The copper baseplate is a heat pipe unit which spreads the heat into the 3" square copper plate. The black part of the cooler is also metal and has contact pads with hot components. The issue I see is that the fan is not big enough. Maybe a fun mod would be to remove the stock fan, 3d print an air funnel and use a Noctua to force air through.....

Blowers are inadequate for cards >150w, it's just physics.

Blowers are noisier than open air coolers, that's a fact. Whether it bothers you or not depends on who you are. For me it matters a lot as I've been spoiled by the exceptionally quiet PCS+, GTR & Nitro+. Nay to blower design!

v64 nitro+ 38dba

However to hit 46db with 5700XT you have to manually raise the fan speed. By default is sitting at 20% and is not audible. Also if you shove a microphone where the air comes through, the air hits the microphone with speed and without making a noise the microphone picks it up.

And lets not forget, was just a mere 9 months ago, Nvidia was still selling this.

Im sure i saw a video review of a guy that had his pc shut down/lock up because the graphics card got so hot?

The new EK waterblock for this graphics card cant come soon enough!

Anyway i took a picture of my PC :)

nice, yeah the wait for EK feels long but will be worthwhile. Am expecting this thread to be awash with pictures next week.

So 5700 with Morpheus cooler is happy at 40% power, 2100mhz, 940mhz ram. 7533 Time Spy score on a 4770(non k). Now that ive played with that I can go back to a power sipping undervolt allowing me to play BF5 ultra at 60hz using all of 60w.

This thing is pretty good!

Am waiting for my Game pass so I can check out Metro....

No, you don't, that's stock fan settings. And idk why you have to bring Nvidia into it all the time, when all I'm talking about are coolers. Ofc Nvidia cards with blowers are just as bad.

So got my 5700 xt ae installed, booted up witcher 3. Full ultra without nvida hairworks enabled at 1080p with my ryzen 3800x every thing at stock i am getting between 89-98 ish average fps. I was expecting to see a consistant 100+ so slightly disapointed in that regard. Also temp of the card settled at 95 degrees stock!! ouch!! seems to idle at 46degrees.

I would try reseating the stock cooler. Maybe try a better thermal compound as well. Was there not a trick with little rubber o-rings to add a little more pressure as well?

I’d try all of those before residing it to being hot junk (not that you should have to do all of that...)

5700Xt beats V64, nothing new about that.
What's rumored coming is:
5700 out already (5700/5700 XT)
5800 rumored to be announced this year (5800/5800XT?).
5900 Big Navi

If that turns out to be correct then V64, 2060 and even the 2070 would be competing with AMD's low end parts.

They always speculate without any sane hint or support over their speculation.

There won't be any big Navi. Navi is Polaris replacement, Vega's replacement is called NEXT-GEN.

RX 5700 is 5700 because AMD copies nvidia's names and directly targets RTX 2070. Nvidia has no RTX 2090, so there won't be RX 5900.

So you are now adding your rumor .
Gotcha :D

Well, I use the information from AMD that RDNA 1.0 | Navi 10 is not full new gen architecture but a hybrid between RDNA and GCN https://wccftech.com/amd-radeon-rx-5000-7nm-navi-gpu-rdna-and-gcn-hybrid-architecture/

WCCFTECH says Navi 20 but if it's full RDNA, why would it be called Navi and not something else? And what else is it and why is it being hidden from the public as a name?

Actually, Polaris 10 | Polaris 20 | Polaris 30 is one and the same thing.
Vega 20 is an optical shrink with minor changes of Vega 10.

So, Navi 20 should be the same Navi 10 with improved clocks.
