*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

thanks

by the way...switching from nvidia to amd..never done it before..
reading mixed stories about uninstalling nvidia drivers when i switch cards using DDU....some saying it causes more problems...
do i just uninstall drivers using windows uninstaller or def download DDU and do it that way?
To be honest I've done it both ways, uninstalled Nvidia stuff with add/remove programs and DDU, both were fine. DDU I think is more valuable if you're getting issues.

I'm not saying it great, just no unreasonable. £650 from November 2020 is apparently £850-£880 in today's money depending on your measure of inflation. Being priced £150-£200 lower than that would put it in a lower tier of pricing.

It is rumoured to be between 7900xtx/4080s performance both of which are £1,000ish at the moment. Last generation's upper tier performance for lower tier price. Not unreasonable.
Just quoting myself back into relevance.

I paid £580 inc shipping for a Reaper XT which is £70 less than I paid for my 6800XT in 2020. Really reasonable price to performance imo.

I switched from a 3080 to a 9070xt today. Used DDU and followed the instructions. Was a piece of cake.

If switching between AMD/NV I would 100% use DDU every time.

When updating drivers I usually just install over the top (and choose to keep settings), unless there are major changes in the driver, in which case I reset settings to default.

This is a great take on the current market. AMD are just as bad as Nvidia with their bait and switch shenanigans.

Yeh, its not wrong.

The argument that winds me up the most is the "oh well that’s the more expensive model/premium cooler"...

Thats just complete ****. For example the card i like the look of the most and the best fit for my case is the Sapphire Pure. If you look at all the other models like the 7700xt/7800xt the difference between the pulse and the Pure is at most £20. I saw as low as £7 between the Pulse and Pure at one place for a card that isnt the 9070 series.

But what is the difference between MSRP and the PURE for the 9070XT in most places - £120!

Another retailer briefly showed the correct price difference earlier - £15....

It is just simply gouging. I hate all the excuses that AIBs and retailers give. I'd prefer it if they were just honest and said "yeh we know you suckers will buy it at crazy prices so thats the price we want", as that is the real reason. Painting the cooler white and adding a couple of heatpipes/an rgb light doesnt cost £120 of extra production costs.

TLDR - Sell me a Pure for £589 :p

It’s a decent take but his premise that a 9070 and 9070XT at the “real” MSRP are bad, because it is too close to the unobtainable and even rarer 5070 and 5070Ti MSRP is laughably stupid.

Neither look great but I do think at least it will be possible to get an AMD RDNA GPU closer to MSRP. Nvidia are barely even trying.

Edit: I have been checking off an on out of curiosity. Personally my max over MSRP is about 15% but even that leaves a very bitter taste.

Cheapest (scalped) prices currently available to buy right now (varies regularly)

9070 - £599: 15% over MSRP
9070 XT - £699: 23% over MSRP

5070 - £679: 26% over MSRP
5070Ti - £845: 16% over MSRP
5080 - £1319: 35% over MSRP

None are great are they? But we can’t call foul on real 9070XT prices for being close to the fake Nvidia 5070Ti MSRP. while ignoring that the 5070Ti is also heavily scalped.

How are you finding the performance. Was it worth the upgrade? I'm thinking of doing the same.
I haven’t had a chance to stress it yet but I am getting the same frames in native 4k in Lies of P than I got using DLSS on the 3080. Will do some more comparisons tomorrow but it’s about a 40% uplift from the 3080 which I’m happy with. Also going to have a go at over locking it tomorrow.

FSR4 running on Cyberpunk using Optiscaler (posted on the DLSS3FSR3 Discord)

It works...

Seems like AMD mostly ignored Sony, as FSR4 seems to be vastly superior to PSSR even on the PS5 Pro.
Looking forward to my 9700xt nitro arriving next week. PSSR is only available in the pro, the base PS5 only has fsr, and I have to say it's very effective, far far better than fsr 3.1 especially in motion.

It's the reason I am upgrading from my 7900gre, it had a few teething issues but since the last few updates it looks incredible on my 65 inch tv.

It can upscale from as low as 800p and still look very good at 4k. Kingdom come 2 on the pro is amazing, as is black myth wukong on balanced mode.
