What demos? The Prey demo was on two RX's.

Auto correct does not confuse above and about, not on my phone.

It bloody should run comfortably over any single GPU as they were running two of them.

They also ran a Blender test with 4 GPUs, on Threadripper. Seems that, and the Prey one was about Threadripper being able to handle multiple GPUs / IO configs.

I thought that Prey one was out of place for that for though, and AMD's one marketing person tweeted Prey was running on 4 GPUs as well, and Raja had to correct him.

They need to sort out those marketing folks.

I just hope Raja meant two single gpu cards and not two dual gpu cards . That would have explained the 4 gpu comment from marketing

The whole Prey demo just seemed a massive waste of time imo. Just seemed to be there to tick the gaming box and possibly to appease Bethesda.
And it's the ticking the gaming box that is worrying for me as it's all starting to smell a bit like Microsoft's 'This time we're really taking PC gaming seriously' thing they do every few years - normally around when they have a new o/s to shift on people - without really ever following it up. :/

The Blender demo seemed a bit more relevant - at least for showing off Threadripper - but outside of 'it works' I don't really have a frame of reference for how well it works.

Personally I just want something half decent to replace my Fury for a bit more omph at 1440p with an eye on going HDR with Freesync 2 at some point, which will possibly be when I move up a res again. And the odd control pad game to play on the couch on the 4k TV.

As for predictions... My guess is something around £500-£600, probably trading blows with a 1070 on games that favour nVidia h/w (which people will use to bash it), around 1080 performance for most titles (which will largely get ignored) and then matching or beating a 1080ti in DX12/Vulkan and titles that favour AMD h/w (which people will use to justify it).

What ever they are doing though they seriously need to get a wriggle on.

I would guess yes judging from the wording, the original tweet states 'four chips', which he corrects to 'two GPUs'.

Though I guess the worry is that if HBM supply is the issue with any hold up, maybe they're sat on a stack of GPUs and rather than them each having their own memory they're hastily trying to get the infinity fabric and the HBCC to get two GPUs working with one pool of shared HBM.

Prey demo in my eyes did more bad than good. They should not use game on lets call it Professional/workstation CPU as demonstration !!!
Who to hell will buy 16 core cpu to play games?? Most cant even make good use out of 8 cores.....

Anyhow My birthday today. I had a dream December i was like. Ryzen comes out i'll buy that if on pair with my 5820k and then Vega will be out FOR SURE for My birthday's so wil buy it for my bday gift and what ?? And Jack ****.

Fantastic Birthday gift AMD.... Disappointment

:(

really? you're going to blame AMD for not delivering in time for your birthday?

Also you do realise that a lot of people are not just gamers ... meaning you don't just play games on a computer. Some of us work as well. I would happily buy a 16 core processor if I needed one. I don't at the moment but in the next couple of years, things might change.

who would have thought... A CPU thats great for gaming and workstation tasks.... Yea who the hell would want that.

Who else can i blame first info was Q1 then Q2 now its Q3 as i See it....

Griffidul I produce around 4-7 hours of video from gopro for my Youtube WEEKLY thats why i got Ryzen not 7700k. I would rather have demonstration of video rendering Cad or ANYTHING that uses them 16 cores to maximum potential than game that 4 core 770k can run at 4k@60...

All that demonstration did is created more rummors and speculations...

R7Slayer well we kinda had that since X99 ??

I am one of people that are actually using them 8 cores...

Could not pull that off on my overclocked 5820k had like 10fps in WoW lol

There is something that caught my eye. "We aren't done with Vega optimisations for Prey". This sounds dodgy if you have to put in so much work to optimise for one game.

Raja stated during the AMA that they wish the hardware was as similar to Polaris as it's extremely difficult to get optimized drivers for a such a different architecture.

The 4 GPU part is a mix up from the Blender test where they ran Threadripper and 4 Vega GPUs to show off how great it is for workstation tasks. Since the marketting guy linked to that Blender test, and then the Prey one as well.

Here's the link where they did the demo of that.

https://youtu.be/WK9z6NO1qyU?t=50m59s

They also did a live workstation demo using all 16 cores + vega. Link above.

Lord_ZED did you miss the Blender demo?

Must have cause was not watching life just next day slides. I remember watching WHOLE HAWAII event was so boring that decided t skip on this one and was late night aslo :p

So far all i know is Vega can run doom at 4k and needs 2 vegas to run pray :) At lest thats what AMD showed to my eyes besides fancy cache helping with minimum fps. Assuming that will work with games no problem.

As a hardware addict sometimes i wake up 3am and have a look at videocards if any info up and then go back to sleep.

After all im not normal person on prescription medicines. Crazy flows in my veins

They also showed vega running BattleFront, and Sniper Elite 4 with the Frontier Edition being around 10% slower than a GTX 1080Ti overclocked to 1.96Ghz

Also no proof they Need two GPUs for Prey, as Sniper Elite is more intensive at 4K, and Raja stated the Prey demo was "comfortably faster" than *any* single GPU. Once again they claim the entire demo was to show case Threadripper handling the GPUs more so than Vega running Prey.

ID like to see it running some VR games since its main purpose of upgrade for me. The bios moded 980ti is sweating in VR :D

Might see something at Siggraph, since the entire event is about graphics, for pros and consumers. Although two months away! :O

Before that I'm sure we'll see some reviewers test the Frontier Edition in gaming and VR.

Go show me the info that suggested Q1 for Vega. It was Q2 or rather 1H for Vega. The Vega FE is supposed to release 27 June which is still Q2 with RX Vega supposedly releasing later. Not great by AMD and slightly later than most predicted but all this talk about them push back constantly and it being later than said. Originally was Q2 i remember having this debate with D.P. Who very well told me Q2 release will most likley be at the end of June as i was suggesting it could be earlier. (Hind sight now ehh lol ) If Vega FE does come out at June 27th then its still ontime.

Also i bet Threadripper will be a lot cheaper than any Intel offering. So yea... who does not want that?
