The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

So the main body of the second series of OreImo has finished (with a few more episodes due soon). Overall I found it ok but I think it did miss something from the first season which just seemed better to me ...

... but at least the new series of Tamayura has started :)

Aye, and it's interesting that there is a suggestion that it's happening to women as much in Japan but less reported, and may be happening here as well to a degree.

A bit of very welcome news from across the pond, Nozomi have license rescued Princess 9 :D (it's one of my odd favourites, odd in that I don't care about sports much, let alone baseball:p).
I've almost been afraid to get my old ADV discs out because I know they had some sort of disc rot/failure endemic to certain batches (for example disc 1 was well known to fail - and it cost me as much to source a replacement disc 1 as the complete set about 6-12 months after it went OOP).

Ahhh got me a box set of Princess 9 a few years back, must check to see if they are still OK I guess(mostly watch images of discs I own on the pc these days so no real biggie if they are rotted
Watched the Appleseed XIII series a little while back and must say I was totally underwhelmed .Poor graphics was my main issue for a modern animé it was pretty poor imho

I would have jumped around the room when I found out about that, but it was late at night so I opted for some sub quiet squealing since I only have the first two volumes.

I also seemed to have avoided any of the disc rot issues since the two volumes of princess nine I have still work perfectly (although I'll have to go through my Steel Angel Kurumi complete collection as that is another one that was affected by the rot issues).

Finally got around to watching the first GitS Arise episode ... I thought that overall it was pretty good really. Yes I did think that the character designs were slightly inferior to the later SAC series but the story made up for it.

Watched the first episode of Servant X Service which I thought was quite amusing and different that it is set in an office environment instead of a school.

Saw GitS Arise as well, thought the same about the character designs but only really had an issue with the Major. She seems a bit off and nowhere near and lovely as the original, the rest i'm fine with as there's not really any difference.

The story was good but seeing it's only a 4 part OVA i'm hoping the next episode is a bit more epic as I found it a little low key.

I'm trying to find the name of an Anime, so then I can find the song I was looking for!

It had armies and a giant tiger/bear with a weapon who was helping a girl, i think.

Any help? :)
bit late.... been away from the thread for a while (had a bit of a break from anime)

Think you'll find it's guin saga, seems to fit it apart from it being a leopard...

Sawa gits arise - thought it was quite good, animation not quite as good but more than watchable, the major being off didn't bother me because it's meant to be before the others so I'm expecting her to develop over the others.

Kyojin - it's ok, hopefully it will continue like it is now because it went a bit meh in the middle.

Watched Rozen maiden (2013) and was like... ok it's a recap but it ends differently to traumend and it's not really going to help new viewers one bit. Hopefully episode 2 will be better as rozen maiden is in my top 5 anime and so far this new studio isn't really making me want to watch the new series :(

Had a zoom through the second season of K-On! weekend ... I do like the K-On! series' and movie and it was good to run through the second season again (even if the main reason was due to doing maintenance on the digital media platform so i was having to resort to physical media).

Did have time to watch a couple of more first episodes; Love Lab was pretty dire and the one about the "going home" club (I can't remember the title off the top of my head) was all right but I'll need to see more before deciding fully.

Back in the UK :D

Haven't had a chance to watch anything just yet as I was back in work as soon as I got back. Did get news my copy of the first half of Stein's Gate on BD has been despatched this AM however :) (I've not seen it yet!)

Welcome back to the UK :)

I'm looking forward to Stiens gate (my copy hasn't shipped yet) :)

Currently watching Cat Planet Cuties (dub at the moment as I've gone and picked up the threat infection from hell:p), and the number of punnish words they've got in there - both for cats and dogs :p

Got Kiki on BD the other day (hadn't planned to get it at the moment but needed to get my order over a certain value). Debating whether to get Grave of the Fireflies though ...

I've got both sat on my pile of stuff to watch (I realised I've got about 20+ films to watch, most aren't anime though).

I'm probably going to watch Kiki first, then Grave at some point...

Asobi ni iku yo! is one of my favourite Animes. :p

You will enjoy it. :)

Watched Nerawareta Gakuen earlier. Visually the movie is amazingly good with stunning visual effects throughout. The visuals are up at 5cm/s etc level at times.

The film is set in the Kamakura/Enoshima area (at least the Japanese Tv show promoting the film seemed to say so and the landmarks looked familiar) and involves time travel, psychic powers and the usual sorts of misunderstood boy-girl relationships that we normally see in anime.

Whilst it looked great the pacing of the plot seemed a little off to me at times with it feeling rushed in places whilst slow in others. As art it's great; as a film it's pretty reasonable but I wouldn't go beyond that.

You know, sometimes it's nice to realise I'm not the only one who can appreciate a (very) fan service heavy bit of fluff :p

Robgmum, if you liked chobits have you ever read the manga? (I picked up the omnibus editions as they were release and liked it more than the anime).
