The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Not a bad day ...

... finally managed to finish re-watching Hyouka which is a really nice light mystery series which can be watched with little brain power. It is nicely animated though, particularly the OPs.

This afternoon though I went to one of the local cinemas which is showing My Neighbour Totoro this week. It was the dub rather than a subbed showing but it's always good to see some Ghibli on the big screen, (well they are also showing Grave of the Fireflies but I think I'll skip that).

Finally got to watch the third Evangelion film, I want my 90 mins back. Some really shoddy and frustrating writing, sure you need to set up the final film, but it was just so obscure and lacking in logic for most of it.

So Shinji wakes up, not knowing what happened, yet no one bothers to fill him in and Misato decides to cast him aside even though its clear she still cares for him (since she doesn't detonate his collar). Not even a 'we don't need you to pilot Unit 01, I'll explain why and what happened later', nope she just says he's no longer needed and useless (which is the one problem he got over in 2.22). No wonder he chooses to sod off back to NERV. Kaworu sorta addresses what happened, but by that point my frustration overtook my curiosity. The film sets up an instrumentality on Gendo's terms rather than SEELE's terms, yes, but the whole film just makes the rebuild as a whole feel quite disjointed. There's no real net progress here, Earth is still in the same state as it was after 2.22 (slightly worse, but still in a state of a post Third Impact apocalypse), you can see the things that will be playing a role being put in place, but nothing happens. I guess it's the awkward positioning of this film, hopefully 4.0 will be better. It's like Empire Strikes Back, you lose the lustre of a new world, you gain some critical bits of info, but ultimately nothing has really been resolved.

In other news, I'm currently rewatching Cowboy Bebop. Forgot how great it was, the music is sublime and I'm getting all sorts of references I missed the first time I watched it.

well received my copy of HIGHSCHOOL OF THE DEAD: DRIFTERS OF THE DEAD EDITION (tv & ova) Blu-ray yesterday, so I be watching that at some point, but I waiting for both part 1 and part 2 of cowboy bebop Blu-ray to be released before I think about getting it.

Try going to the Anime Planet site and search for Cowboy Bebop. Once on the TV series's page click on the recommendations button and see if anything takes your fancy. Samurai Champloo, which was the second series returned when I just looked, is a pretty good series (for example)

Champloo has the same director as Bebop too, I liked it quite a lot when I saw it, the music choice is great as expected. Have you seen the Bebop film yet XPE?

Ok im back on crunchroll ive watched so far attack on titan and sword art online. What else must see anime must I watch on there, im open minded to the suggestions.
If you liked sword art online I'd recommend Accel World and maybe Angel Beats.

My favourite anime too watch is defiantly Elfen Lied but its not for everyone.

I don't get the name "attack on titan" at all. Is it just a victim of crap translation? They appear to be on earth and are being attacked by what they call titans...at least sometimes, in some eps theyre calling them"eotena's which would appear to be a misspelling of eoten which in another language (norse i think) means giant.

So anyone know if they're on earth or not? Im guessing so as "humanity" is mentioned quite a bit...Watching the intro subtitles is also amusing as they don't make much sense.

Also wtf is the Japanese obsession with giant robots\lizards\human looakalikes waddling about"

Meh, seriously.......

Fixed that for you ... ;)

Finally got around to watching Sukitte li na yo this weekend. Not a bad series which has some parallels with Kimi ni Todoke in that it has an unpopular female character who ends up in a relationship with one of the most popular guys in school. This does lack the humour of the other series though and is only a single cour long so doesn't have the depth either. A reasonable watch but not a standout one.

Question for the group though ... figures ... any suggestions on where to sell them other than the usual auction site (as they're out of scope for MM here)? I've got a few which I just don't have any room to display so are still boxed and I could just do with the space they are taking up (apparently wardrobes are supposed to have clothes in them and not have the bottom couple of feet and the shelving of a third of the rest a huge pile of books and DVDs and the top foot high, triple width, shelf not just be full of random anime merchandise ... clothes tend to live on the bannister :))

The forums on uk-anime.net and animeuknews.net have sections for selling things.

eBay for one, there is also Animesuki you could sell them at.

What figures are you hoping to sell? I might buy depending what they are and how much, can do it through MM for history sake. :p

I'm trying to find the name of an Anime, so then I can find the song I was looking for!

It had armies and a giant tiger/bear with a weapon who was helping a girl, i think.

Any help? :)

Thanks for those suggestions. The trouble with the UK anime forum sites is when I look at them there never seems to be much traffic on them so I wonder how well things do on them ... I was hoping to avoid eBay really. MM is not an option as you can only sell certain ranges of things on there and these would be out of scope.

As for what ... well I need to have a look see to see what's up there as it's been a while. I know there is some nendoroids and figmas but there are some normal figures as well including I think a Kosaka Tamaki from ToHeart2. I need to look and see what is there and see how much things are going for really (the latter being one of the reasons for my original question).

Neil79 ... I think I can picture the poster for the series you are talking about (I'm pretty sure I didn't watch it but I remember it airing) but I'm drawing a blank at the moment

I forgot to say, you can sell them on Myanimefigure!

I bought my first figure from someone in Germany for £100 and had no problems. Sold one figure to some guy in Aussie for like £50+ and had no problems.

Should be okay.

It's pretty much even money if you get any bites, and it would depend on if what your selling is what someone wants (the two sites I mentioned do have decent traffic volumes even though there are some fall offs).

Watched Garden of Words.

The visuals was awesome, the animation was great and a nice little story! My only problem is that it was too short, it was more like a OVA then a movie and there wasn't enough Yukari-san action, her voice is lovely.

Having watched this at the weekend I agree with you completely. The quality of the visuals is amazing and it is a really nice typically Japanese story which should have been longer.

I'll also note that I have actually visited the park where th film is mostly set, although it was a nice sunny spring day when I went.
